"Or they can leave him here. It's up to them!


Your hand. How is it?" he said, after a moment.

"It's fine, it's just a cut." she says, looking down at her bleeding hand before deciding she should at least do something about it. Reaching for her belt she pulls out a roll of bandages. "Could you put this on? It's hard to do with one hand."

Cam tsked, and reached into one of his OWN pouches, pulling out a spray can of some kind.

"Hold out your hand, and try to not to look directly at the nozzle."

"What's that?" she asks dubiously as she holds out her hand.

"Bacitracin and collagen," he said, spraying it on her wound. "Disinfectant and wound healing. Minor cuts and scrapes only, of course; but it should promote hemostasis, proliferation and maturation."

"Healing stuff, got it." she nods. As weird as Cam was, he did seem to know what he's doing.

"Yes, 'healing stuff'. I'm prepared for quite a wide range of emergencies, to cope with all this foolish danger," he said, gesturing at his belt.

The spray tingled, but it was forming some kind of thin protective layer over the cut.

"Hey, this is pretty awesome. Thanks!"

"Mmm. Well, we'll see if it holds up over time," he nodded. "Any other ill effects from the combat? Other injuries? Fatigue?"

"Nothing a good night's sleep won't fix. Come on, we got a drug dealer to bust."

"Right," Cam said, watching Nailah's tiara closely. "That hasn't lit up green, you know. Not since you started."

"What? But we're doing well!" she frowns and rolls her eyes up to try and catch a glimpse of the glow.

"I'm just saying. It's been yellow, and then it moved to orange just before you got cut."

"That makes no sense." she frowns, apparently unaware of how rough she's been on what could barely be called thugs.

"Why don't you think it makes sense?"

"Cause none of this is bad. I'm just chasing a drug dealer..."

"Yeah, but you also dropped a guy from midair and nearly broke that guy's arm."

"Yeah, but they wouldn't cooperate..." she mumbles.

"Remind me to always cooperate with you, or at least to have backup."

"That's not... I mean you're not breaking the law or anything or being scummy!"

"I wasn't aware breaking the law allowed citizens to break your arm."

"It's... I mean... I'm just cleaning up the streets! It's not like I want to hurt people, but when they're being like this..."

"Couldn't you just, like, call the cops on them?"

"Then we'd never find out where they get their drugs from."

"I mean, that's true. But what are you going to do when you find them?"

"Probably beat them up and call the police. Unless they just surrender..." she says as her phone buzzes with a message. She pulls it out and smiles a little at the message. That is until she opens up the attached photo and her face turns into an angry frown.

"Cam, do you have, like... a teleporter or something?" she asks, trying to sound angry and tough, but her voice is a little shaky, betraying the fear that's spreading up her neck like ice.

"No.

I mean, yes, but it's in the planning stages and not here. Why do you ask?"

"I need to get to Arizona. Now."

"Arizona United States, or 739 Arizona? Because one of them probably has flights around here; the other we might need more equipment to get to."

"I dunno what the other one is, but the one in the United States! And a plane might be too slow. I think some psycho has my parents!" she says, holding up the image on her phone. Although neither the symbol nor the house probably tell Cam much, the general idea of a threat is still clearly evident.

"...and we're stuck in the middle of London. We don't have access to anything superfast.

We'd best get back to campus. Maybe the headmistress can help."

"Frick, frick, frick!" Nailah 'curses' as she runs back and forth. She tries to call on her power to show her the fastest way to her parents, but all she gets is mental fog. "You said you got the beginnings of a teleporter? Let's go then, we gotta hurry!"

"...Right, OK," Cam said, following along behind, the wheels in his head spinning.
