"Never." Basil replied defiantly, then proceeded to bury his face in her tummy to blow raspberries on her.

Colette let out a surprised shriek that melted away into wild giggling, the girl wriggling under Basil's touch. Hopefully the walls were well insulated. Though perhaps it was one night too late to worry about that.

Once he was satisfied in his mind that she got the point, he rolled over to take off his dress shirt, revealing a tank top underneath, then took his cozy position on her tummy again.

"I'mma sleep riiiggghhhhhttt hheeeeerrreee..."

Colette gently pet Basil's head, her face flushed from the alcohol and for other reasons. "Basil Benson, you never cease to surprise me." She whispered softly.

Curious but struck illiterate by drink, Basil asked-

((Christmas morning))

Thanks to the late night dinner and lots of alcohol, Basil wasn't exactly in the same 'rise and shine' mode on Christmas morning as he had been on Christmas Eve. He made a somewhat miserable sound as he rubbed his face into Colette's surface, reluctant to wake up.

Colette was... mostly there. Her legs had melted together into a tail-like mass, her hands had melted into a more scoop shape, and her face was devoid of any features. But she was still a basically human shape and hadn't just soaked into or spilled off the bed, so good for her! Basil's stirring prompted her own, her more human features slowly returning and developing as she woke.

"Mmmmmmmm....." He moaned and rolled around on the bed, and eventually, right off of with a thump.

He didn't even cry out when he hit the floor.

Colette lifted her head lazily, rolling over the sheets to peer over the edge of the bed. She didn't seem terribly concerned, but then again she wasn't one who got hurt if she fell out of bed.

"Checking for presents under ze bed, Basil?"

Basil fought himself free of the bedding he took with him, the long portions of his side cut agitated now. It stood nearly on end, floofed out in a static-y, untamed poof.

"Nope. I took them out from under there last night while you was asleep." He replied, his voice a bit raspy and weathered.

"Wait. I mean Father Christmas did the thing I just said I did."

Colette smiled softly. "Oh, did he remember to stop by your shoes as well?"

Somehow, despite being Basil's pillow the entire night, Colette had found a way to put a few little things into Basil's shoes. Just little treats, some of them childish things like lollipops but if Basil dug deeper he'd find some tiny bottles of alcohol and what looked like a set of tabletop game dice. There were also a couple of twigs poking out as well.

Basil went to investigate his shoes in his pants and tank top and messy hair. He was very pleased by the contents, though they dice mostly from an aesthetic angle as he knew what they were mostly used for, but didn't much know what he would use them for yet. they were the same colour as her when she'd been drinking something bubbly.

He popped a sucker in his mouth, but he was a bit confused by something.

"Thank you Mother Crimbo. What's the sticks for though?" He asked out of curiosity, holding one up.

Basil did something that seemed a bit unusual for him, being that most associated him with decorum and propriety and having a high opinion of himself.

He took his twigs and twisted them into his mop, as if they were hair pins.

"I would have put things in your shoes had I known I was supposed to." He laughed awkwardly as he did his own hair up.

"Oh, do not apologize Basil. I do not zink Fazer Christmas left you any room anyway."

Colette's shoes were filled with twigs, and a single package of hazelnut chocolates.

"Damn." He commented, perhaps reading more into what Colette had done than she meant to be read into it.

"What did you do to get the short end of the stick?

Pun..... unintented?" He replied, not sure if he meant that to be a joke or not.

"Well don't let me stop you." He commented. "If you weren't into junk food you wouldn't be trying to get your mouth on me."

He quickly changed the subject like he didn't just say that.

"Should we go see if Father Christmas left you anything that isn't biodegradable?"

Colette wrinkled her nose and seemed to actually be considering it before she shook her head. "No, you are too stringy." She stretched her arms above her head, her stomach having lost the bloating it had the previous night.

"Yes, let us. Perhaps he left somezing for you as well."

Basil's expression was extremely concerned as she responded so seriously to the flirtation, but he let it go and climbed up from his position on the floor. He figured wandering around in his underthings might seem distasteful, so he threw on his robe.

He kept the sticks in his hair.

Upon arriving at the tree, Colette would find no less than thirteen boxes she did not recognize putting out.

Colette slipped into a pair of PJ pants but kept the t-shirt she'd been sleeping in; one shouldn't dress up fancy for Christmas morning, it simply wasn't proper. She let out a small gasp at the sight of so many presents under the tree, instantly able to pick out the ones she hadn't placed there herself. Part of her wanted to say that this simply was too much, but she didn't want to make Basil feel bad about his generosity. Still she was obviously surprised.

"I zink... it looks as zough Fazer Christmas had to make two trips zis year."

Indeed, one looked very poorly wrapped in comparison to the others.

Colette was still a little bit embarrassed by the generosity Basil had shown her. "You know Basil, you really didn't have to get me anyzing. I mean, zis trip, it is gift enough." She still smiled and gently ran her fingers over his cheek. "But I will not complain. Nozing is worse zan when you get someone a gift and zey complain zat you should not have, no? At least, so long as you do not complain about me getting some zings for you as well."

It hadn't really been a secret, there had been a small group of presents under the tree almost as soon as it had been decorated, all wrapped in the same bookish wrapping paper.

The gifts themselves were not too exciting; once one went to university one suddenly wanted the really boring stuff you hated getting as a kid. Basil's gifts included some Mack Weldom silver boxer briefs, some fun pairs of socks, a new mug to hold some tea or pencils, and an assortment of baked goods she had made herself. From the freshness of them Colette must have baked them just before they left as even the chocolate Babka tasted soft and fresh still. Joining it were some Matzo-Almond Croccante, the Sufganiyot Colette had asked Basil's grandmother about, and Rugelach made with chocolate and hazelnuts - and of course apricot jam filling in both. It seems like Colette had been eager to exercise her baking techniques and to show her respect for Basil's beliefs in her own way. A lot of the items she had bought for him were available online, so it seemed like she had been doing her shopping that way rather than hitting the shops, which made sense considering this was one of her first times truly off campus.

"Zere is a shaving kit as well, but it will not arrive for anozer week yet." Colette said modestly.

Basil was already nibbling on things he shouldn't before Colette had a chance to add in her addition about the shaving kit.

"I'll make sure not to rub my face on you too much until then." He joked.

"Thank you Madame, you flatter me with the time you put into your gifts. I didn't make any of the ones for you."

When Colette got around to opening hers, she'd find clothes. Clothes on clothes on clothes. Each box contained a whole outfit from head to toe, including shoes and accessories, some even including stockings (though no socks or underwear as he'd never seen her wear socks before, and underwear was too personal until she was ready to receive it.)

The first box was a very practical full length winter coat with matching accessories (and two pairs of gloves to layer to avoid the wooly ones sticking to her), but things from there became more and more impractical.

In the boxes that had jewelry, Colette would notice that the jewelry was layered around the clothes themselves, hinting to her how she could wear some jewelry items over the tops of clothes to keep them from sinking into her.

Some of the items were quite plain, while others were quite colourful and some of them even bore the imagery of her favourites in animation. The last box contained the things he suspected she would least likely wear, and therefore, the most 'outlandish' of all.

Colette looked down a little bashfully as Basil sampled some of his treats. She thought it was a little too much of one thing to give him so many baked goods, but when one had a limited budget one played to their strengths. Most of the friends she'd made at school received boxes of Christmas cookies of various sorts, be they French or her attempts at favorites from their homes, the latter more for students like herself who were remaining on campus over the winter break. "Zink nozing of it Basil. I am just glad zat you enjoy zem, even if zat style of cooking is new to me."

The coat and other winter gear were immediately a big hit, the colours well-suited for London in the winter and would leave her able to blend in nicely, for the most part. And each box after the next brought an increase in her astonishment and joy. By the time she got to the last few boxes she was almost on the brink of crying. She thought it was too much of course, he must have spent hundreds of pounds, no even more than that. But that wasn't what was making her so emotional.

"Basil, did... did you pick all of zese out yourself?" She asked, each outfit having it's own unique theme and sense of style. "Zis must have taken you so long to put togezer. I am... simply overwhelmed."

"Yes." He replied, sounding rather humble considering how emotional she was getting.

"Much of my studies are of the 'on the job' variety, and nothing prevents me from online shopping when there is nothing else to do. The most venerable android matron tends to be very lax about what you do in your downtime if you're not working say, in the cafeteria or on custodial or maintenance or some other team that has a constant, never-ending workload. Or if she's not she really likes watching what we in those jobs do and hasn't stopped us because of that." He laughed.

"So if everything has been dusted, everything is shelved, and no one is coming to look for anything or there's nothing to research, I do as I please. Usually I read books, but sometime in November after you said you wouldn't accept me sending you home for the holidays I started working on shopping instead of reading.

I just kind of gleaned information from your room, and picked out colours that would go with pink."

"You still have something from Chisaki to open."

Colette would have to read a Christmas card to understand the contents of the box.

"Merry Christmas Colette-senpai!!

I made you a suit to wear under your clothes so you can wear anything! It moves like you, but will train itself to hold you in place. A snippy pinch at the appropriate areas will cause it to form openings or close them up. If you have issues, you can wait till you are home and I will help you, but don't worry about breaking it: it's very durable.

-Watanabe Chisaki"

Inside the box was a very unusual, shiny suit. It was very similar to her red one, but also very very different.

There was also a small vial of her biological matter with a note taped to it that simply said 'Sorry'.

Colette's mind was a bit boggled at the idea of a fabric being as smart as her roommate believed it to be. Was such a thing really possible? If it were then this girl was poised to ear a possible fortune if she marketed it right. Colette couldn't even begin to imagine how it must work. She held up the suit and looked it over, feeling the strange, almost alien material between her fingers before holding it to her chest. She had to lean into Basil's side for support; if she were close to crying before she was at the brink now. Christmas growing up was always a happy time but she never got many gifts, her family simply couldn't afford them and her grandparents didn't have much to do with them at all, so to get so much at once was just so overwhelming.

She gently passed the note to Basil for him to read if he wished, not opening her mouth as she feared trying to make any sound would tip the scales and leave her a little sobbing mess. She just needed a moment to process it all and calm herself down.
