The address Onyx was given for the for the coffee house turns out to be a warehouse. The smaller door to unit number three is tagged with the Onyx symbol. This can't possibly be a trap.

Onyx keeps her distance, watching the warehouse from the rooftops.

She was at least 60% sure this was a trap.

After a while, a figure in a black hood silently climbs up behind her.

Onyx remains crouched, watching the building. She doesn't seem to have heard whoever it is sneaking up behind her.

The boy, in fact, had a bow and quiver at his back. He also had a sheathed sword, which he silently drew.

"Are you trying to kill me, sir?" Onyx asks, without turning to look at the boy.

"Your thread is fated to be cut," he answered without emotion, an odd western imperfection in his Madripoorean-Chinese accent. Onyx knew that phrase. It was used by the Black Lotus assassins.

He dashed for her, slashing diagonally when in range.

Onyx pivots with the movement of the blade in a graceful dodge.

"That is unfortunate," Onyx says. "I do not feel like dying today."

Onyx takes a fighting stance, "You will have to tell your masters that you have failed."

"We shall see about that," he said, locking his blue eyes on hers as he took a sword stance. There are plenty of youths in the Black Lotus, but a Caucasian boy is a rarity.

He struck with a flurry of slashes, each one flowing gracefully into the next.

Onyx steps towards the assassin quickly, parrying the flat of the blade with her forearm and striking out at him with her palm in an attempt to quickly disrupt his attack pattern.

He leaned back and swirled out of the counter, coming back around with a sweeping kick.

The kick connected with Onyx's side, but as painful as it was, she held her ground and tried to trap his leg with her arm.

He wasn't quite quick enough to avoid the trap, but brought his sword to bear on her with a feat of coordination usually restricted to Hong Kong action films.

Unwilling to let go, Onyx stops the blade with her free hand, the sword cutting deeply into her palm. She holds on to the sword tightly, the pain causing her to clench her teeth as blood begins to run freely down her arm.

"Weak," Onyx says. "A dedicated assassin would have cut the leg."

The assassin let go with one hand and flicked his wrist to drop a small concealed knife into his hand.

Onyx pushes the sword away and brings her arm down on his trapped leg. Hard.

Her strength made him lose his grip and the sword skittered across the rooftop. He grunted in pain as he bent his knee and feinted the knife towards her face, before going for the trapping arm.

Onyx lets go of the knee and pushes away, falling backwards and rolling into a crouching position.

The boy stretched his leg for a second and threw the knife at her with precision.

Onyx snatches the knife out of the air. The wound in her hand is already beginning to close up.

"What is this about?" Onyx asks.

The boy did a backflip into a jump and began rapidly drawing and firing arrows before he even landed.

Onyx lunges to the side, dodging the arrows and jumping off the side of the building.

The boy raced to the edge, but not to the same spot in case it was a trap.

As he approaches, Onyx comes flying up into the air, swinging on a grappling line. She pulls herself up into a high somersault, soaring above the boy's head.

He rolled aside, followed her with his bow, and fired.

The arrow caught her in the chest! Onyx hit the roof hard, an inert smoke bomb harmlessly rolling out of her hand and off the side of the building.

Onyx was doubled over, holding her hand over the area where the arrow penetrated. She was panting hard and drops of blood were falling onto the roof.

He strode over to her, arrow drawn and trained on her.

As he got closer, a second smoke bomb hidden in the palm of the hand holding the arrow exploded, filling the area with noxious smoke.

The boy reeled, coughing. He let the arrow fly, but it merely hit the rooftop next to Onyx's head.

Onyx was moving quickly now, she grabbed several throwing discs from her belt and threw them at Deathhawk in rapid succession as she charged the boy through the cloud of smoke.

He moved backward, weaving to avoid the discs and batting one aside with his bow. When Onyx herself materialized he attempted to dodge but wasn't quite fast enough to avoid being sent to the ground. He immediately attempted to turn it into an evasive roll.

He got back to his feet, entering a fighting stance as he lost grip of his bow in the roll.

"Don't count me out yet," he said. He must have hurt his knee further, because he now favored one leg over the other.

"I will have to get serious then," Onyx says, tapping into her energy reserves. A soft glow surrounds her body, enhancing her capabilities. She raises her foot and brings it hard onto the roof, sending large cracks across the top of the building.

He ran for her, nimbly navigating the damaged roof. Only his eyes made the pain obvious.

Onyx steps towards him with a low kick to his damaged leg while swinging her elbow at his face.

He avoided both by a mere hair's breadth and countered with a leg sweep.

Off balance, Onyx had no choice but to go with the hit, falling towards her attacker.
