Staying up til the crack of dawn tends to lead to sleeping til dusk creeps in. Wanda seems to be still asleep when Miriam rouses. Oddly enough, Miriam doesn't feel as hungover as she should. She can sense some people moving around the house, a couple of them with the same sluggish mental signature she sensed from Alessia the night before.

Miriam yawns and reluctantly untangles herself from Wanda and the sheets. She doesn't remember noticing anybody in the house when they came in, but she can't really tell for certain that's not because she simply didn't notice. As she looks around to locate a bathroom to splash some water in her face (and probably undo some of the make-up catastrophe that comes from not taking it off before falling sleep) she reaches out with her mind to get a sense of how many people are in the house and, more importantly, who they are. Employees, she figures, but Alessia mentioned something about family and now that she thinks about it she probably didn't rent this place just for herself. Either way Miriam doesn't want to bump into one of them unprepared, especially if they're going to be frowning on Alessia bringing home guests.

Several of the people come off as some sort of combination of employee and hangers-on. There's something they want out of the family and it's not just their paycheck. There's probably about four of those individuals in the house at the moment. There's three of the more sluggish minds, one of which is familiar enough to probably be Alessia. It's hard to get a good read on the other two, though she gets enough of a read to know that one's a man and one's a woman. Conveniently enough, someone seems to have left a bathroom door obviously open near their room for her to use.

Miriam makes her way over to the bath and closes the door behind her. Deciding she might as well take advantage of a non-communal shower while she's here she turns on the water and gets in as she tries to see if any of the employees have any kind of opinion (or gossip) on Alessia and her family. She's not rude enough to just poke their minds, especially not if Alessia might notice it, but no harm in checking on the hired help, right?

Most of the impressions she gets with regards to Alessia are 'tough, but fair' and 'occasionally generous'. One of the staff, apparently the young woman from last night, seems to be of the opinion that Alessia is her grandfather's favorite and that he lets her get away with murder. The other two members of the family in the house, Marco and Elisa seem to be regarded as sort of a couple, but certainly a non-traditional one. They haven't been in the house long enough for the staff to have strong opinions on them.

While she's in the shower and fishing around anyway she tries to get some information about the family name. There's clearly money there and Miriam is curious from where and what. Not that she's likely to recognize it, having only been skirting around the outskirts of those kind of circles at best, but the employees might know a little bit. Plus she can always plug the name into Google later.

After a bit more poking, she comes up with the surname "Abate."

As expected that doesn't really tell her anything but that's alright. She takes her time finish her shower and get dressed while trying to resist the urge to poke at Alessia's mind. Miriam has felt plenty of sleeping minds before and this somehow feels different. Sleeping minds are quieter, more convoluted but not slower. Maybe she's hungover. She's never taken the time to specifically examine drunk people's heads, so maybe that's how it feels. Still, it's weird. Once she's back in her room she finds her purse and fishes out her phone. Glancing over at Wanda to see if she's up yet she does a search for 'Abate', then promptly adds 'wealthy italian family' once she gets a bunch of dictionary entries as a result.

The search doesn't turn up anything really reputable. Apparently, the Abate family goes out of their way to stay out of the news. Most of what she does find is conspiracy theory garbage either pegging them as a supporter or founding member of the Illuminati or a some sort of untouchable Mafia family.

Miriam rolls her eyes a little. Not every Italian with money was part of the Mafia. Stuffing her phone back in her purse she notices the business card on the dresser. It has Alessia's name and phone number on it but Miriam doesn't remember her leaving it before leaving the room last night. Then again, she'd been kinda of distracted, not to mention drunk, so she must have just missed it.
