When she comes back, Nailah is writing something into a nice-looking journal.

"Oh." she chuckles. "Any would have been fine, really."

"Well now you have more for later," she grinned, setting down the haul.

"Whatcha writin?"

"Oh. Just... writing myself a message, I guess? So I'll know you came by to visit, in case I forget."

"Glad I stol...found a nice notebook for you then," she smirked, opening a bottle of Fanta and a bag of pretzels.

"Hey, uhm..." she says, stuffing a handful of pretzels into her mouth to buy time. "You think it'd be weird if I... wrote myself a more optimistic message? Kinda... lie to myself a little?"

"Hell no. You write what's gonna make you feel good, girl." Haley replied enthusiastically through a mouthful of pretzels which sent several crumbs falling down her shirt.

"Son of a bitch!" she laughed, covering her mouth with her hand.

Nailah smiles a little at her friend's goof-up.

"Yeah, you're right." she says and starts scribbling again, although from the looks of how her pen is moving she's not just writing.

Haley was reaching down the front of her shirt to brush out the crumbs as she watched her friend. “Drawing too?”

"Trying to..." she says, sounding a little embarrassed. "Thought it might be good if I meet new people so I got a way to recognize them maybe..."

“Make me look hot, and maybe without pretzel crumbs on my boobs,” she laughed.

"But they're your most attractive feature." she jokes before realizing that it's not immediately obvious what she's talking about. "The crumbs, I mean! It's... a joke." she awkwardly trails off.

Haley blushed a bit, and giggled. "They aren't so bad I guess. Wish they were bigger and more even. Tosh seems to like them plenty. He'd probably enjoy them more with pretzels included."

At least Nailah wouldn't bite her and try to drink her blood like the last girl that had flirted with her. She hoped.

Right. Haley has a boyfriend. That made this even more awkward.

"No no no, that's not... I mean... not that... 'course he likes them, right? He's a guy..." she rambles.

"Nai, it's me," she smiled reassuringly, a bit of a blush still coloring her cheeks, "you don't need to be like, embarrassed in front of me about anything. You're my bestie!"

"I know! I just didn't mean to... It was just a joke..." she says, staring intently down at her hands. "I'm not as used to that kinda stuff." she adds, looking up with an awkward smile.

"Bae, you'd be giving my boyfriend and his friend Trev a run for their money in an awkward-off right now, and it's super adorbs," she smiled warmly, a slight twinkle in her eyes. "I'll never, ever judge you and you if you wanna practice talking about stuff like that we totally can."

"Oh god..." she laughs. "That sounds absolutely mortifying!" says the girl currently in the hospital for hurling herself headfirst at a crazed super-villain.

"Still just me," she smirked. "We've seen each other at our best and our worst. You've held my hair back while I emptied my stomach at least one time, you never yell at me for thinking too loud, and we kick ass together."

"Yeah but that's different." she says, though she's not really sure how. "That's superhero stuff. Well, maybe not the puking."

“Maybe we need to incorporate the puking into the superhero stuff,” she laughed.

"Oh god, I bet there's some poor soul out there who has a power like that." she chuckles.
