Sam slumps back down against the closed door, breathing a sigh of relief.

"So ah... everything cool? Not feeling... growly or anything?"

"Oh, plenty growly, but there's nothing to be done about that at the moment."

"Well if you've got to growl at anyone, growl at me."

"At least it looked like it didn't hurt when you shifted?"

"Yeah, but it was a weird moment."

"I'm sure we'll be able to figure it out."

She lets out a long breath.

"I think I'm seeing the flipside of something. I know I said I was feeling bummed about getting reminded we're different, but I'm also seeing that when I go home I'm expected to just be... Sam, you know? Like they put me in a time capsule and I wasn't supposed to change."

"I would guess that it's hard for them to let go of that. They have an image of you fixed in their minds, so that's what they see when they see you."

"And it's my fault as much as anyone, because it's an easy rut to fall into."

"I keep telling you that you need to be you. Whatever that means."

"I guess I just want you to know that you're not... inconvenient to me. I'm not embarrassed by you, no matter how much I blush. No matter how much I just feel like the little girl who never left when I'm here."

“Well, I don’t see that little girl who never left.” Then she gets a mischievous grin on her face, “And I didn’t think you were blushing from embarrassment.” She moves incredibly close, pulling Sam to her feet as she whispers, “I think it’s time I reminded you how I see you... as a goddess.” With that, she kissed Sam deeply.

Sam is about breathless when the kiss finally ends, and this time there's no mistaking why she's blushing.

"Okay, that... that's a pretty Good Christmas present."

"Best I can do under the circumstances. I left yours back at school."

"With Will guarding it?" She chuckles.

"Only if he's in our room."

"...well, no guarantees there, but I'm pretty sure he's still in the foyer."

"Probably, though if he is in our room, that's not a problem either."

"Mostly he's just going to be bored to tears there."
