Declan just managed to swivel out of the way in time, and raised his OTHER hand, pointing it at the ferret.

THIS hand had a DIFFERENT box in it -- and once activated, it seemed to be pressing the ferret (and anyone AROUND the ferret) down towards the ground, as the G-forces increased.

"Pests should stay put! Where's the rest of your little gang?"

"With your mom..." the cowboy ferret groaned.

"Too bad you only have two hands. The jig is up, Cosmos!" Nailah says as she steps into view with her hands on her hips, wings spread slightly behind her to distract from the whole cast thing.

"Two hands, maybe. But you have too many friends," Declan sneared, moving his right hand in a sweeping arc.

This would send Charles flying towards Nailah.

As Charles flew through the air he tried grabbing onto things (machinery the ceiling) as he went to slow himself down and hopefully not squash Nailah.

Nailah throws herself to the floor when Charles' monstrous form is swept towards her.

"You shouldn't have come," Declan cackled. "All you will do is accelerate the timetable of your demise!"

Declan was enjoying himself, swinging Charles around in the gravity well, as he tried to hook him back around to catch Nailah on the rebound.

Charles body began to change shape during the second swing. Crushing claws fused together and became membranous wings. Wings that Charle's used to try and fly against the swing of the gravity well.

Nailah rolls sideways and tries to scramble to one of the science-machines to use as cover.

"The only thing that's getting accelerated is you, towards a prison cell!" Nailah quips. Not her best work.

Charles would find that he could, in fact, make some forward progress. His inner ear and his sense of balance were all messed up, but the more he struggled, the more he could figure it out.

This caused the good Captain to stop his quip battle with Nailah as he tried to focus on disrupting Charles more. He couldn't fiddle with his wrist gauntlet at the moment, as his OTHER hand was busy trying to keep Tosh at bay -- so instead, he just tried to manuever himself and Charles into positions where Charles' flying would be as difficult as possible.

Charles felt like he was going to vomit and foamy viscous drool poured from his mouth, but he struggled towards Declan hitting obstacles as he was redirected to a more difficult approach. The obstacles were getting the short end of the...err.. stick though as Charles' simply tried ramming through them or ripping them apart with tentacles and bladed limbs he grew for exactly that purpose. Declan had succeed in slowing Charles' down considerably between the altered sense of balance and random things he was getting run into.

Meanwhile Nailah tries to circle around Captain Cosmos, using the machines for cover as she looks for one that has any nozzles or lasers or something she could point at the super-villain.

The Captain was forced to move even further, trying to keep Charles at bay -- but Charles was gaining on him, and rapidly gaining his bearings, forcing the Captain to move even further.

Nailah did, in fact, find something that look vaguely raygun-ish. As to what it did, who could say?

Only one way to find out, right? She grabs the raygun and aims at Captain Cosmos leg, squeezing the trigger.

A bolt of purple energy shot out of the gun, flinging the Doctor across the room and into the wall opposite. This also caused his aim with the gravity controllers in his hand to go wonky, freeing Tosh and Charles.

Charles swooped towards Declan using a random piece of equipment to propel himself towards the likely only temporarily beleaguered super villain. Charles tried to use the combination a tackle and tentacles to attempt and grapple with Declan.

Charles was able to, successfully, latch on to Declan, his tentacles lashing off.

"Foul beast! You dare mishandle the Captain!" Declan shouted, as they tumbled to the ground.

Trev had unfortunately been caught at almost the dead center of the gravity well, so he was basically pinned to the ground like a cheap butterfly display, struggling mightily. Finally freed after Nailah's shot, he rolled to his stomach and used a shout and a shove from his arms to help him do a bit of a reverse kick up back onto his feet.

Watching the doctor grapple with the giant bug, he narrowed his eyes and let out a high-pitched scream the sound waves of which he tried to shape away from Charles and focus onto the Captain to make him not want to do much besides cover his ears.

Charles opened his mouth and hissed inches from Declan's. Sharp teeth and the smell of potent acid filling the fallen scientists view. Some tentacles tightened as others negan searching for the devices Declan had used in order to make them unusable.

"We think prey doesn't need all of it's limbs," Charles threatened in an alien-like monotone.

The good Captain tried to cover his ears, but Charles' grip pretty much prevented that; Declan instead settled for howling out in pain.

...Not quite so quippy now, was he?

Charles' tentacles could find the devices fairly easily; they were strapped to each hand, after all. Removing them would be a cinch as well; they were just loosely attached via velco straps, rather than being surgically implanted or anything of that nature.

"Don't tear off his arms!" Nailah shouts 'helpfully'. She doesn't really know Charles and he looks rather monstrous right now.

Charles heard Nailah and removed the devices somewhat gently despite being very tempted to take one of Declan's arms as a snack.

"Pity everyone wants prey in one piece," Charles said standing up and lifting the super villain off the ground in the process, or at least attempting to because who knows what Declan had countermeasure-wise after all.

No countermeasures to speak of -- Declan seemed fairly well defeated...

...or DID HE?

...Yes.

...But he still tried to make one lunge towards the desk he was tinkering at thing with when the X-Men came in.

Nailah swings around the raygun and fires again, this time at the desk with Captain Cosmos' work on it.

OK, now THAT caused an explosion.

This had three main effects.

The equipment was destroyed! That was good!

An alarm started blaring! That was neither good nor bad, just annoying.

Gravity all around the room started behaving wonkily, with the X-Men being thrown in every which direction at once, different pockets of the room having different directions and strengths of gravitational pull. That was bad!

It also forced Declan and Charles apart for the moment, and Declan started attempting to make his way to the exit of the room. Now, mind you, he had no special ability to move in gravitational pockets, so it was very, very slow going.

"Sphinx are you sure you sh--" Trev was cut off by the explosion and knocked into the air. He let out a few screams to try and right himself before diving awkwardly through the pockets of gravitation in the air towards Declan.

Charles hit a piece of equipment as gravity decided it wasn't going to play nice. After denting another piece of equipment he righted himself by using a combination of claws digging into the ceiling and his wings.

"Not this again," Charles groused... well, probably groused it was hard to tell when a voice didn't have much inflection as he regained his bearings. Once he'd located the escaping super villain Charles used his claws to crawl along the ceiling after Declan.

"Uh-oh..." Nailah exclaims as she begins to float. She tries to flap her wings to right herself but she's only really used to doing so in the context of a reliable 'down' direction, sos he ends up wobbling back and forth in the air.

Charles' strange anatomy was more than enough to chase down Declan, though he'd receive a couple kicks in the face while he was doing so. And now the two would be floating in space, defying gravity.

There was some pandemonium being heard from back up the ramp, towards Hawking's office and the main part of the building.

Charles attempted to pull the scientist towards him with his tentacles as they floated. The first couple kicks didn't bother Charles that much, but he did tighten his grip on the scientist's leg substantially after the third kick to his face out of sheer irritation.

"Why do you continue this pointless struggling," Charles hissed.
