Broomfield Hospital Infiltration!

[Nailah Weaver]

Wearing one of her few 'nice' outfits that isn't just jeans and a t-shirt Nailah tugs on her blouse to adjust it's fit as she and Drake approach the hospital that allegedly houses the addiction clinic.

[Drake Martin]

Drake was in human form, wearing an unmodified combo of a red shirt and black slacks. And shoes. He hated shoes.

"This better be worth entombing my feet," he complained, his gait a bit off.

[Narrator]

As they approach the hospital in Chelmsford, they see a reasonably modern-looking building.

Stepping inside, the reception area is well-lit and welcoming, with several people working the front desk.

[Nailah Weaver]

"Shoes are for suckers." she agrees with a sagely nod as they head inside. Casually strolling up to the reception desk she leans down on it with both arms. "Hi, uhm, sorry to be a bother, but we're looking for the addiction clinic?"

[Narrator]

The girl at the desk looks up to Nailah, and the sphinx can see her eyes trace up over the contours of two large, feathered wings.

"Ah yes, I suppose you would be. Hallway to the right, past the cafeteria. Can't miss the sign for it."

[Nailah Weaver]

"Excuse me?" she asks, trying to sound surprised. "We're volunteering." she says with some indignation.

[Drake Martin]

"Yeah. Mutants can want to help addicts too," Drake said with more indignation than he actually felt.

[Narrator]

"You know, it's the same way to get there no matter why you're going," the girl says curtly.

[Nailah Weaver]

"Yeah, well, I get to fly, so suck on that." Nailah huffs before making her way towards the addiction clinic.

[Drake Martin]

Drake followed at her side. "For my first taste of bigotry, that wasn't that bad," he said with naive optimism.

[Narrator]

The two do draw some looks as they make their way past the cafeteria. Mostly Nailah, though. Drake just gets guilt by association.

Passing beyond, they see a bench just outside the clinic's door. A strung-out looking girl with large insectile eyes is sitting, rocking back and forth. Next to her they get a dirty look from a young man whose features seem to blur as he silently vibrates in place, faster than a mundane shiver or tic would be able to manage.

[Nailah Weaver]

Nailah can't help but glance at the poor mutants, the look from the vibrating one making her glance down, embarrassed to be caught staring. She hurries past them to head for the door.

[Drake Martin]

The fact that someone in the hospital was using such people as a cover for dealing illegal drugs got Drake's fires burning. With this fresh in his mind, he followed.

[Narrator]

A young woman with blue skin and white hair looks up from the counter as they come in.

"Can I help you two?" She asks. "Or do you have an appointment?"

[Drake Martin]

Drake smoothly moved around Nailah and smiled his most heart melting smile at the receptionist.

"Hey there," he said, voice glowing with flirtatious energy, "We're here to donate our time to help our fellow mutants who have sadly fallen to addiction."

[Narrator]

The blue-skinned woman blinks for a moment at Drake's statement.

"...lemme guess, you've been practicing that one for awhile?"

[Drake Martin]

"I need no practice to smile at a beautiful woman," he smiled.

Liar.

[Narrator]

"Look, I get it. You're nervous. You got some stares coming in. You don't need to be on the defense here."

[Drake Martin]

"Why would I be nervous? We really do just want to help."

[Nailah Weaver]

"Take it or leave it, I guess." Nailah says with some fading annoyance. "We just thought we could do some good for our fellow mutants by volunteering our time."

[Narrator]

"I'm just trying to get you guys to relax."

"What kind of time commitment are you looking for?"

[Nailah Weaver]

"I got classes and whatnot, but I was thinking I could spare an afternoon-slash-evening or two."

[Drake Martin]

"The same here. Tuesdays and Thursdays mostly."

[Narrator]

"A lot of students tend to go for the weekend hours."

"Which is great, but it means we're pretty full up on volunteers those days."

[Nailah Weaver]

"Yeah, I get that. Weekdays are fine with me, I don't mind getting to keep the weekend." she chuckles.

[Drake Martin]

"What exactly would we be doing?"

[Narrator]

"Most of the volunteer work is helping the patients fill out paperwork, and serving snacks and the like. Some of the treatments can really take a lot out of a person. Do either of you drive?"

[Nailah Weaver]

"Oh. No... Never got around to getting my license..."

[Drake Martin]

"I can. I just haven't actually done much," Drake said. His parents made him learn before he left home, as in the UK he couldn't just fly everywhere.

[Narrator]

"We have a van that does shuttle service for some of the patients. Not many of our volunteers drive."
