Not Thinking Fourth Dimensionally

...Somewhere.

....SomeWHEN...

A jeep screeched out of nowhere, bumping along some grassy hills before flipping over, rolling to a stop on it's roof.

Ashlie's body arrests most of her actuators, effectively locking her into the seat when the jeep suddenly flips. She's too worried about the machinery and Tosh to really spend much time analyzing the fact that their surroundings have changed (and are currently spinning around them). When the jeep finally comes to a rest she carefully extracts herself from the seat, falling to the ground with a thud before crawling from the wreckage and looking around for Tosh, assuming he got thrown from the back where he'd been operating the temporal anchor.

Some distance behind, a dazed Bruce was picking himself the ground.

"Are you alright? Sorry about that, it seems we ran out of road. And out of city in general." she says, walking towards Tosh. As she's checking all her various systems she grows increasingly confused at the lack of any electronic signals, be they cellphone, wifi, satellite or even just radio.

"Are you kidding? That was epic!" he grinned before looking around in his own increasing confusion. He turned completely around in the process.

"I believe something has gone wrong. We've obviously been displaced, but I'm unable to find any means to establish a connection to my main system. I can't even find a GPS signal to determine our current location."

The hiiiiils were allllive with the sound of...nature, mostly. There were some open grassy hills, but no sign of a road, or Maldon, or Nazis.

"Uhh... Miss Minamida? Where's Maldon?"

His expression indicated that his shark-brain wasn't entirely processing that. So, he turned human again.

"What's your GPS say?"

"Nothing. There's no reception here, not even from a single satellite. But what's even stranger is there are no radio signals. At all."

He thought for a moment.

"... you don't think maybe we..." he said nervously.

"It's possible. Space-time was unstable and we might have torn right through it."

He averted his eyes.

"So then, when are we? Great," he sighed. Decorations for the pity party were going up.

"That's what we'll have to find out. We need to get the jeep upright and the temporal anchor secured, if this is the past then we'll need every bit of material and technology we can salvage."

Whether she's trying to distract Tosh or is just not socially capable enough to deal with the emotional impact this is having is up in the air.

"R-right," he nodded, "Let's... do that." The party has been postponed.

He headed for the jeep and shark-hulked it upright. Shulked?

"We'll figure out what to do once we know what our situation is. We should look for signs of civilization."

He reverted and began examining the damage to the device.

"We're going to stick out like sore thumbs if anyone sees us."

"That could be a problem, you're right. We should find a place to hide the jeep."

"So we have a number of potential problems to deal with. My internal batteries are also going to run dry without access to my workshop and I have lost a good chunk of processing power by being disconnected from my mainframe. We need a place to safely set up shop and gather more information. I suggest we head towards that mountain ridge and try to find a natural cave to park the jeep. We should keep an eye out for rivers or smoke that could indicate a settlement."

"While remaining operational? About 26 hours, but luckily we did strand here with a power core in tow. If we manage to restore it to even just 10% capacity I should be able to charge my batteries with it."

"Considering the alternative was getting shot and letting Nazi invaders into the country I'd say this was the correct course of action." she says, inspecting the jeep to see how badly it got smashed up. "This is just another challenge for applied hypertech engineering. Consider it a field trip. I just hope we can get away with skipping the applied mining and metallurgy lessons and make do with what we have. Which is plenty."

"We have a combustion engine that can provide basic electricity and torque until we run out of fuel. We have a highly advanced power core to provide energy and, if we get desperate, parts and considerable amounts of components and rare metals. I'd prefer to keep it intact because it's our best shot at powering something to take us home but if it's busted we can strip it down. We have plenty of electronics, cables and basic tools that we can definitely repurpose and an array of temporal anchors, which we might be able to turn into a return-ticket. We have a small power-source that can generate various forms of energy. Mostly destructive, but it's still a lot of high-tech components we can use." she goes on, taking off her weaponized glove.

"And most of all we have two bright minds available to put all those things in the right configurations. As far as shipwreck scenarios go, getting stranded with a bunch of hypertech and a supercomputer in tow is probably a best case scenario."

He appeared reassured and grateful for the pep talk... of a sort.

"Yeah. You're right. We... just need to send ourselves back to our proper temporal coordinates like we did to the invaders. If we did it once we can again."

"Exactly." she says, choosing not to point out that the previous situation also involved an active time-machine. But if the Nazis could build one in the 40s then surely they could manage to do the same in the... whenever they were.

They were able to drive for some time through rolling hills without immediatley coming across anyone or anything.

As it began to turn dark, however, they could see smoke off in the distance.

"Take us up those hills, so we can get a better look at what kind of situation we're dealing with." Ashlie says, standing up in the jeep and trying to get a look at what she suspects is a settlement of some sort.

In the distance was...well, even a small castle counts as a castle, right? Castles are pretty cool. There were also some small huts outside.

The smoke, however, was coming from a large bonfire in front of the castle, where a bunch of people were sitting around, seemingly quite boisterous. And possibly drunk.

"No, I'm just wearing a high-tech skin polymer under my modern pants-suit. We'll just have to pick up more appropriate clothing. Until then, try to pretend we're from a different part of whatever country this is." she says as she climbs out of the car.
