"I better get rested then," he said before retreating to the hut.

"I didn't have a choice. He thought we were supernatural creatures plotting against him," he said when alone.

"I won't even ask how he got that impression and instead assume it's racism. Is he intending to put you through some kind of trial? I only got your half of the conversation."

"Yeahhh.... apparently I could die. But then I think I talked him down from just running me through. I... kinda got caught eavesdropping on... some kind of weird divination ritual. It told him we were touched by the Morrigan and he's apparently not a fan."

"It doesn't take much divining to decide we're strange and different, but this is a rather extreme reaction... I wonder if there is anything we could cobble together to give you a better chance. Did he mention anything about what kind of tests he plans to put you through?"

"Nope!"

"...it also showed him a beacon and a bald man in a chair."

"And he's a regenerator."

"A precognitive, regenerating earth manipulator? That can't be right. Something strange is going on here and it's not just us... You'll just have to win his trust the hard way then. Maybe I can throw together some light-weight armor to put under your suit. Not enough servos to add any movement assists, unfortunately..." Ashlie's voice is crisp and clear of any and all background noise, but Tosh is getting the impression she's moving around the cave already and going to work.

"And using Bruce would just screw things up, so that's a last resort."

"Only if you absolutely have to. I'll do what I can, but I don't know how much I'll be able to help you."

"Anything is better than nothing. For now I should probably lie down before I fall asleep standing up, lest I be a vegetable at freaking dawn."

"Get some rest. I'll see you in the morning."

He turned off his comm unit and was asleep almost as soon as he lay down.
