Finn McCool and the Wayfarers of Time

Finn McCool and the Wayfarers of Time

Tosh followed the others into Finn's hut, more intrigued by the man with every second.

"Are you going to tell us how you heal fast too? Were you born able to that or did it just start one day?" he asked with keen interest.

"What do you mean, "too"? Are you saying you heal faster than normal?" Finn said, attempting to shift the focus of the conversation.

"The source of your abilities aside, I'm sure you understand our initial deception. Where we're from we know quite a bit about these extra-ordinary gifts but even then people are still suspicious of those who have them. Had I known you are in a similar situation I would have been more honest." she says, finding a place to sit so she can put down the nudle of scraps that used to be her arm and work on removing some of the loose cables and broken bits. It'd be disturbing if she was human, but who knows what Finn is thinking as she pulls free what's basically a metal and carbon-fiber elbow-joint.

Even Tosh found her self-repair a little disturbing and he understood what she was. Her tore his gaze back to Finn.

"The whole Land of the Rising Sun thing was my idea, though it's not entirely untrue. It is the ancestral homeland of both me and her creator. And... I lied about my name. Don't ask why. I don't know. I was nervous. I don't usually lie when I'm nervous," he said, rambling a little.

"It's actually Toshiro, but everyone calls me Tosh."

Tosh, however, did notice Finn's tone of concern and perhaps expectation. It was strange for a medieval Irishman to react that way.

Finn slapped Tosh on the back of the head.

"Boy, you know not of what you speak.

The Three that constitute a blacksmith. Nethin's Spit, Dagda's Anvil, and the Cooking-Pot of the Morrigan. Does no one read the Triads anymore?

It's clear what is happening here."

"This is it, isn't it? This is why mankind fears what I could be. Because they think that if you built a machine in man's image it will seek to usurp it's history just like it's their own impulse to." she muses. "But be that as it may, I see no reason to let superstition take hold in any capacity. I would love to help you spread enlightenment here and now, but the ramifications of that would be too large, too far-reaching."

"When the Tuatha De Danann left our world--when they descended into the Sidhe--not all of them left so willingly. They were not about to leave the island to the Milesians. So, they created three artifacts of power--three objects that would allow them to rebuild their world one day.

Ashlie Minamida wrote:"Even if there is a pocket dimension set on trying to conquer our world, that is not the purpose my mother created me fornor the goal of my research in dimensional physics."

"The Gods work in mysterious ways. Your 'mother', as you call her, may have thought she was working under her own will, but the Gods are insidious like that."

Toshiro Narumi wrote:"We sent them packing, if it makes you feel any better."

"It does not. Obviously, all three of the objects incarnation in your time were not there simultaneously, or no power on this Earth would have prevented the overthrow of the Rule of Man.

The three artifacts were originally just that--artifacts. But they were all destroyed when we realized what they could do.

But look at her," he said, gesturing to Ashlie. "A modern day Nuada of the silver arm. Research. The spark of inspiration. The reincarnation of the purpose of the spit.

The Spit is the spark, the idea that begins the act of creation. The cooking pot is the medium in which the world is transformed. The anvil," he said, pointing at himself, "provides the force that bends the raw elements to their new forms.

The Three will always be drawn together. That, undoubtedly, is why you are here. And if the three remain together for long enough, the Gods themselves will return to rule the Earth.

I killed the last Cooking-Pot in Wales. I found the boy Gwion, and held his head under water until he stopped breathing. It will be your job, Toshiro of the Fianna, to locate your time's cooking pot and do the same. The Morrigan is by far the most dangerous, and the most evil of the Tuatha de Danan, and she must be prevented from re-entering this world, or death and chaos will follow."
