Xaviers!

Tosh returned to the mill in high spirits, practically bounding in. It wasn't every day he got to play adventurer.

"You ordered a gemstone?" he grinned as he held out his glittering prize.

"Impressive. I hope it wasn't too hard to acquire?" she asks as she gets up to take a closer look, charging cable trailing on the ground behind her.

"Nobody got hurt anyway," he answered cryptically.

"Good. I think we're just about ready then. Can you calibrate the laser assembly? I'll re-initialize the power core."

"On it," he nodded, getting to work.

"I take it you've finished calculating our temporal trajectory?"

"I have the most likely coordinates based on what little data I could pull from the tether, but I had to cut some corners to be able to get any results at all with the hardware restrictions I'm under."

"Perfectly understandable," he said as he used a low power test run of the laser to mount the crystal as perfectly aligned as he could by eye.

"Only one way to find out for sure." she says as she works on the power core, slowly bringing it's energy capacity up.

"As long as we're only off by at most month or so, I'll be happy," he answered as he nodded approval at his own work and began to secure the assembly.

"Ready when you are. Make sure anything anachronistic is within a three meter radius and then let's get out of here."

"Let me check to be sure," he said, giving the building a thorough once-over.

He raised up an okay sign and returned to the machine.

"Ladies and gentle, please return your seats to their upright positions and keep your arms within the time machine at all times."

As Tosh is checking Ashlie goes to detach the induction coil from the water wheel, bringing it into the departure area along with her cord that's still plugged into the back of her neck.

"Energy readings are good." she informs him, checking the power core. "Won't hold for much longer but all we need is one good surge. Overloading it now..." She punches in a series of commands on the power core's control panel and the whole thing begins to hum ominously. It's less rattling and almost more vibrating rapidly by a minuscule amount. The occasional arc of electricity crawls across it's surface as their improvised laser assembly kicks in, the gem emitting a bright beam that's redirected into a reworked temporal tether above the departure area. A green forcefield envelops the area and with a sudden flash of energy Tosh and Ashlie disappear.
