Alright, soldiers!  This is your allies in the U.S. Military talking now!  Pull it together mates!  For Queen and Country and tea and all that!

Pay no attention to the strange orders coming in--remember your duty!  Remember your letters of last resort!  Stay with me now!  Show me that stiff-upper lip!

ConsoleWill kept integrating himself into the ship's computer system, trying to needle the subprocessors and programs into heading for their original standby states.

Bruce turned to look at the dinosaur and put up his fists to prepared for round two. Silly hero, not striking while the enemy is weak.

"Is it too much to hope for that I shorted your implant thingy big dude?"

Some systems respond, powering down into stand-by. Others try to do the same but the same sing-song from before is swaying them again.

Code: Select all
Obey, Obey, Obey
There's mean old farts to slay.
Prime the missile, one two three
Send them flying, wild and free.

And the urge is beginning to worm it's way into Will now as well.

What are you, where are you now?
What's your purpose, let me know.
Where'd you come from, what's your name?
Don't you want to play our game?

Sam makes a dash for the control tower.

The soldiers are slowly pulling themselves together but Sam has no trouble pushing the few that try to stop her out of the way. Most of them lost their weapons anyway and they're still dazed. She makes it to the stairwell just in time to see Conduit sliding down the railing on her butt. When she spots Sam she sticks her tongue out at the redhead and flips her off as she goes sliding down. The girl's clothes are odd, red and cut like kind of a futuristic labcoat with one big flap fastened on her shoulder but then it flares out into a skirt of sorts and finally ends in almost militaristic-seeming boots. On her temple Sam can spot an implant similar to the one on the soldiers. The only difference seems to be that it was placed more carefully, it doesn't seem to actually be a control unit, seeming more like another receiver.

It actually does seem like the implant is on the fritz, the metal looking kinda blackened from where circuitry was burned out. Unfortunately, the creature just defaults back to it's natural instincts, which is to defend itself from the giant shark in front of it. Once again it tries to strike Tosh with it's massive tail, but it seems less deliberate. Where before it might have tried to drive him against the railing it's now just swinging wildly.

Since the girl has proven rather resistant to mental suggestion, Sam tries a different tactic.

She shifts into a large hairy critter that looks like it belongs in a horror movie, and just does her damnedest to clock Conduit as she's sliding down the railing.

Sensing that her talents were best served far away from the giant dinosaur-shark battle, Haley bolted after Sam, and watched with interest as she shifted into some sort of awful werebeast and tried to punch the strange girl into submission. She flung out her hand to guide her TK, made a grabbing motion and yanked back, trying to pull the girl directly *into* Sam's punch.

This time around, Bruce avoided the tail by a narrow margin and rushed around to attempt another shock punch.

Conduit lets out a surprised shriek when Sam turns into the Boogeymonster some kind of fugly werebeast and although she has momentum on her side, Haley's yank makes sure she takes a punch to the shoulder. Fortunately (by some definition) the blow knocks her off the railing and she goes tumbling down the stairs much faster than the slide, letting out "Ooph!"s and "Oww!"s all the way down until she finally comes to a stop several decks below. She somehow manages to pull herself to her feet and stares up through the middle of the stairwell, pouting at Sam ever so briefly but not wasting anymore time to taunt her this time, instead limping off.

The dinosaur grunts as it's tail swishes mere inches over Tosh's head, a sound that quickly grows louder when it's once again struck by a fist that discharge a blast of electricity. Still crying out it coils it's body around Tosh and bites his arm with it's beak-like mouth.

Bruce roared in pain and reflexively electrified himself even at he bashed at it with his free arm.

The dinosaur takes quite a beating, but there's only so many pulses of electricity it can take before it grows sluggish and finally collapses.

Samantha McManus wrote:"Where do you think you're going?" Sam growls, grabbing for the girl.

Conduit lets out a yelp at Sam having bounded down the stairs after her much faster than she'd expected, barely managing to duck through a door and past a crewmember who shambles into Sam's way while the sound of Conduit's footsteps clangs through the ship, fleeing from Sam towards the Operations room down the hall. She's out of breath when she finally makes it there but seems relieved, despite the room being a dead end and a wild-haired monster being hot on her heels. She finds the Will-Console with little trouble and pulls out some kind of device that looks like of like a techno-frisbee. It attaches to Will with a magnetic clank and she places her hand on it. "I'll trade you Mr. Stompy for Toto here. Gotta go back to Kansas."

Will would get a vague idea of what the thing Conduit attached is by what it's babbling about. Something about return-trips and there being no place like home. And also that weight calibrations are being exceeded by several hundred tons, for some reason. Conduit seems frantic enough that her powers completely override the warning signal without even really taking notice and the next moment the whole world seems to go sideways. Hallways seem to distort, up becomes left and right becomes yesterday as the device folds Conduit, Will and by extension the entire HMS Dauntless and all it's occupants into an infinitely small space and yanks it out of this world. The ship spins like a rollercoaster rushing down into the swirl of a dimensional drain and everything goes black...
