Hazard, wearing a captain's hat, danced like a cartoon mouse as he steered the speedboat he 'borrowed' towards the site of the vanished ship. For some bizarre reason, the naval perimeter patrols were completely ignoring them.

"And we're back," he said to the imaginary camera.

Emilie had her arms crossed over her chest, and leant over the edge of the boat a bit as they traveled. By back, she assumed he meant 'here'.

" Is there something special about this place?"

"This is where the hole is. A wound in reality that your pathetic monobrains can't see. But my infinite eye can, and it's beautiful."

"I can drown myself right here if you don't want any help." Emilie commented back to him about the insult.

"I've done it before. I've gotten quite good at suicide actually."

"Brain the size of a planet but you can't master a comb." Victor mumbled, his arms crossed. He still didn't like the idea of having to leave the brick behind.

Hazard let the boat drift to a stop. Stepping back from the wheel, he smiled up at something only he could see.

"Now take my hand and understand," he said serenely, reaching back for her.

Emilie did as she was told and took his hand, though her eyes made it obvious she didn't entirely trust him.

When their hands connected, a painless shock went through her and suddenly it was there. A thin, ragged vertical slash in reality itself stuck out of the water before them, unknown colors tinting the world at the edges. In fact, she could glimpse another place in those impossible colors. Vic would still see nothing.

"You see now, yes? The keyhole. The door."

Emilie's eyes were covered by her heart shaped lenses intentionally, to hide her emotions. The awe in her voice however wasn't as easy to conceal.

"Y-Yes. Is that where we are going?"

"... the Spitbank Fort? We're going to a hotel?"

"No. Another world. Try to keep up will you?" Hazard replied to Victor.

"Now is ze time on Sprockets vhen ve violate dimensional boundaries!" he suddenly proclaimed, gripping Emilie's hand and forcing it in the direction of the tear. The two of them glowed and an energy that was hard to look at flowed towards the rift like living smoke. Upon contact, the rift widened and became truly visible to all. Something like lightning discharged from the edges as reality cracked around the opening "door."

"Victor!" Emilie calls out to him an offers her his free hand. "Hold on or you might get lost!"

"Jheezus! Where'd that..." Victor didn't have a chance to finish his sentence, grabbing onto Emilie's arm with both hands.

So, this is how I die. I always thought I'd be mugged or something.

Hazard lunged forward and hit the throttle, sending the speedboat careening into the rift. Color became sound, nothing became everything, the door slammed shut behind them, the shadows danced in absence of light, and the void between...

The sea was calm again.
