"We need to know if that guy has been here before. He might've gone after more than just Wanda."

The effect on Wanda's mind seems to be starting to lessen. At this point, it was more like she was drunk. "I'm not sure they'd appreciate being called nut jobs."

"I'll go ask around, but I don't remember seeing him here before," Erica says, taking a step back, "If you'll excuse me I'll see to that now."

Erica raises an eyebrow at Miriam, but exits the VIP 'room', giving Tereza a wide berth as she does so.

"Don't suppose you two want to share with the rest of the class?"

"Not particularly. But this mystical beasts nonsense is going a little far."

"Okay seriously, you know Tereza got bit by one, right?"

"Could have been a mutant, could be god knows what. Even if you want to call it a werewolf doesn't make some wanna-be rapist in a club a bloody Vampire."

Tereza snorts again and says over her shoulder, "What if I said he smelled 'stale'? He was covering it up with some nice cologne, but..." She taps her nose.

"And what was even up with that old lady you were yelling at?"

"Beats me, but she keeps following Wanda around. I saw her in Uppsala last weekend when she started rambling about weavers and guardians."

"You saw the whatever-she-was from Uppsala?"

"Was I not supposed to?"

"No, no. Not you. Miriam," she says, turning to Miriam. "She was here?"

"Yeah, though she was being weird about it. Tried to pretend she didn't know what I was talking about at first."

"And you guys think she's not human?"

"That's what she claimed. As far as I'm concerned she could be a mutant. Her mind didn't feel human, but inside someone's head all that matters is what they believe." she says with a pointed look at Sam.

"All she did was rail at me about something I didn't understand and then she and Miriam got into it about something. She didn't seem to know our names."

"So what, we should believe that everyone's crazy, and they just all happen to be after Wanda by sheer coincidence?"

"Because those two are the only options. Coincidence or Vampire."

"We've got a man locked up who tried to kill Will and is hundreds of years old. We fought off an invasion of fairies a couple of weeks ago. A woman bit Tereza and she started sprouting fur."

"Just for once could you not bloody try to gaslight me, Miriam?"

"Would you two stop fighting?" Wanda moves to cover her ears.

"Jesus Christ..." Miriam says, trying to force herself to calm down. "I'm not gaslighting you. I just... Will's even older than that guy and that's just because he's a mutant. You're right, there's weird stuff all around us and maybe it's the same weird stuff that people used to call fairy tales and myths, but I'm not going to let some ancient bullshit dictate my life just because some old lady's got an obsession. It's creepy, it's annoying and it makes people justify all kinds of horseshit. Bad people don't think they're bad. That fucking creep probably figures he's being romantic because he's thinks himself Dracula!"

"How did she even know to be here tonight? What's all this about weavers and guardians?"

"She told Miriam she was a weaver, but I don't know what that would mean. I had a feeling they were referencing something that Miriam had seen in the woman's head."

"Just more of the same. Threads of fate and that you're being stalked by the darkness. That's not even a proper warning, that's just the ramblings of an old crazy woman."

"But how would she know to be here? I haven't seen her around campus."

"Threads of fate?" Wanda leans back as her mental sense gives the impression she's trying to remember something.

"Yeah, like loose bits in a canvas being pulled or somesuch. Who knows how she found us. She recognized Wanda somehow, probably not a secret she went to school here and she's really hard to miss."

"Well that's kind of a mythological thing too, aye?"

"There's the norns in mythology. They weave the thread of people's lives and decide when they're done. But there's supposed to be three of them and they're not really the sociable sort in mythology."

"She said she wasn't one of them. Called herself a lesser weaver?" Miriam adds. She is not liking the direction the conversation has taken.

"...probably didn't mean like Nailah."

"What did you see in her head, Miriam?"

"It was some kind of castle, but her mind was focused in this medieval house in the courtyard. But that really doesn't mean anything. It's just... metaphor."

Wanda's brain seems to be coming out of its drunk-like haze, "We seem to be steeped in metaphors tonight. Anything might be important."

"So back to basics, I guess. We all agree that guy is probably the one who did that to Wanda the other night?"

"I don't remember him specifically, but I don't remember a lot from that evening, so I'll go with yes."
