Sam steps out after Tereza, wincing a bit as the door locked behind them. She casts her mind out, in case they need to move quickly.

Regardless of need, Tereza moves quickly, finally settling against a wall in an alley. She slowly sinks to the ground, resting her arms on knees.

"It doesn't matter to me where you came from," Sam says softly as she sits down next to Tereza.

"You're you. That's all that matters."

"You and I both know that's not true," she says, hair falling down to obscure her face.

"Why? Why does this have to change things?"

"Because now I'm some sort of bizarre experiment? An attempt to recreate someone else?"

"You're my bloody girlfriend. You're my friend besides. That's all you have to be."

Tereza sighs, "But it's about being me. Turns out my mother didn't just give me up. Was she even really my mother?"

"I don't know. And if you don't want to know anything more, nobody would blame you."

"But if you want to pursue this... I'm with you. All the way."

"I'll always wonder if I don't. I just... it's a lot."

"I know. I'm not sure why she just put it all out there, but it seemed like she'd been holding that in awhile."

"And I suppose that explains the appearance thing you were talking about."

"I'm just... having a hard time with some things right now." She raises her head and Sam can get the glint of yellow in her irises.

"Isolde, for all the grains of salt I try to use when listening to what she says, says that this... thing... whatever it is, just lets parts of you free. And now I have to wonder if she's right."

"I don't... think you're like her, for what it's worth."

"But I don't think that side of you is bad, either."

"Then tell me what you saw today, because it's looking pretty damning in my own assessment."

"Well, you're very... protective," she says, putting it tactfully.

"Things... got a bit crazy, there. I don't know how he snuck up on me."

"And then he hurt you," Tereza says, that golden glint back in her irises as she reaches out to touch Sam's neck.

She winces, her neck still a bit tender.

"I'm going to get hurt sometimes, if I'm on the teams."

"I know that... doesn't mean I like it." Tereza gives a soft growl before shaking her head, clearing the gold from her eyes. "He can just count himself lucky for the moment, I guess."

"But?" Tereza pulls away, returning her hand to its previous resting position on her other arm.

Tereza makes a resigned noise, resting her head on arms again. "You may be right."

"I still think she's a part of you. She's a part of you with teeth and claws. I never really thought she was tame, Tereza."

"But I knew you weren't all bunnies and rainbows when I met you. I don't expect you to be."

"...I think there was always going to be a little madness between us."

"You've... been rather good about putting up with my madness."

"So it seems unfair for me not to do the same, aye? It's not like ignoring it means it goes away."

"And I... I think my madness likes your madness."

"Is that... weird?"

"No? Yes? I don't know... Everything's weird right now."
