"You wouldn't happen to know how to get in contact with her? Or Yukio, I suppose." she adds reluctantly. Admittedly she'd be their best bet, especially if they were looking to leverage Logan's reputation, but she's never met the woman who raised Logan's adoptive daughter, a fact that drags along all kind of emotions Laura does not particularly feels like dealing with right now. Or at all.

Tereza turns away, scanning the room with her drink to see who else is paying an inordinate amount of attention to the conversation.

"The Russian isn't in town much. Yukio you can usually find fleecing people with more money than sense in the casinos."

"Great. Here, next one's on me." she says as she pulls out a couple of dollars and slaps them on the counter to pay for the two whiskey and whatever Patch's 'friend' is having.

Tereza relaxes fractionally as the conversation seems to conclude on good terms.

"That's about how Patch would end it, too." He chuckles, making his way back over to his table.

"So far so good. Time for some gambling, I suppose." she says, still not sounding particularly happy as she hops down from the barstool.

Tereza hops down as well, "I'm a lousy gambler."

"Well at least you'll have an easy time making friends then." she smirks as they head out the door and make for one of the casinos.

They have a few near-misses as they make their way from casino to casino. Yukio is apparently making the rounds. She's cleaned a couple tables out, skipped out on some checks if she was having a losing hand, but she does seem to be building to something. Eventually they're right on the edge of Hightown in a casino that, amazingly enough, doesn't smell of stale booze and crushed dreams. Out on the floor there seems to be a small crowd gathered around one of the tables.

"Seems that way." she says, pushing her way through some of the outliers around the table so she can actually get a look at what's going on.

A spiky-haired Japanese woman is at the center of it all, flattering the men around her and playing naive at spots. The pot has escalated quite a bit, by the look of the chips in the center.

Tereza sticks near Laura's right shoulder. "Looks like a lucrative pot," she comments to no one in particular. Her nails have lengthened slightly with the proximity of this many unknown people, but she's keeping it under control at the moment.

The woman is chatting up one of the gamblers next to her at the moment.

"Oh, I don't know if I should... but it's all in fun, right? Might as well live a little."

She pushes the rest of her chips in. The man, emboldened, does the same.

After everyone ups the ante and the last cards are dealt, the remaining players turn over their cards.

The first is feeling pretty good about himself as he turns over a full house. The Asian woman's expression doesn't waver.

The second man grins broadly after he turns over four of a kind. It's the same one the woman was talking to over. He goes to rake in the pot, but the woman clears her throat...

...and turns over a royal flush.

The blood drains from his face as she starts raking in the pot.

Laura tenses up in anticipation of punches being thrown and some of the spectators closer to the players suddenly find themselves being slowly but firmly shoved aside by a small woman with the insistence of a brick wall.

Tereza moves in as well. What she lacks in Laura's brick-wallishness, she makes up for in that 'animal about to escape' presence behind her eyes.

The man's expression turns from shock to anger. He grabs the woman's wrist.

"...I'd let go if you want to keep it," the woman says calmly, her whole demeanor changed.

The man tries to wrench the woman's hand up, not relenting. The woman responds with a precise strike to his throat that leaves him choking, eyes bulging. His grip loosens on her wrist.

"Am I going to have any more trouble from you?" She asks, leaning towards him.

The man shakes his head, still struggling to breathe. She makes another quick strike and he finally sucks in a wheezing breath as he slumps.

The woman finishes raking in the pot, most of the gawkers backing away slowly.

The woman looks up from her haul and peers first at Laura, then at Tereza, her eyes narrowing as the wheels turn.

Laura gives an awkward thumbs-up. She's not quite use to having a reputation that isn't founded on people being afraid of her.

"Hi. I'm the kid he didn't pawn off on somebody else." she says in what might possibly be the worst introduction in the history of bad first impressions.
