A soft rain is falling on the castle grounds, not unusual for England or the fae realm, especially where they cross paths. Nimue stands outside on the battlements, cloak wrapped around her shoulders and hair plastered to her face as she smiles up at the sky.

A bright golden spot loped over a hill towards the castle. Vivienne had decided to try four legs, they were made for long distances and rougher terrain. Soon the gate came into view and she shook herself loose of the curse, for the moment.

Nimue stepped into the tower, grabbing a bag of clothing she had stowed there and walking down the tower into the shadow of the gatehouse. She waited for Vivienne to approach her, watching her daughter carefully.

"Well met, Mother." She said with a polite bow as she approached.

"You look well."

"Enjoying the weather," she says, holding out the bag of clothes, "For you. Did you enjoy your run?"

"I did. The first time in a long time I could fully exhaust the Beast." she accepted the clothing and magically shed the water on her body before crossing into the castle proper.

"So you will be less a boundless font of energy for at least a day," her mother teased.

"Oh, at the very least. Perhaps even sleep a full night."

"Good," she says, her face sobering, "Then perhaps we can talk without you getting restless."

"I will try, Mother." She quickly dressed and pulled her hair back into a modest braid.

"You know this will always be a safe place for you and you can stay for as long as you want, but..." She sighs, "I don't know if this is the best place for you long term."

"That is one of the reasons I came. I needed space and time to learn the full extent of this curse and...I need your help."

"I have an idea, but I need to find something. Melion's ring."

"An old story and a powerful one, but one that should help you," she says with a quiet nod. "What do you need from me? I don't know where the ring is myself, though I have heard rumors."

“Rumors I can work with. If it’s magic can be used to modify the finer details of the curse, perhaps it can help more then just myself.”

"I'll make some discrete inquiries. It is a long time since that story was told and change is slow, but it comes to everything."

"I thought as much. I had hoped otherwise, of course. How mad do you think they really are?"

"Oh, I think them quite mad, but more to your question, I would wager they are still furious. The defection of the Rainbow Guard and the loss of my power cost them a lot of face and they'll want to get their hands on anyone they can possibly blame for that. You'll need to be careful."

"Lucky for me I have a new trick they've not seen yet. Might afford me a bit of a head start if I have to cross the gate."

"They certainly won't be looking for you as a wolf," she says with a nod, "I will have to see what assistance I can provide that won't draw attention to you. I'm afraid supplies might be the best I can do."

Several days of hard travel behind her as Vivienne makes her way back to her mother’s hidden home. She was looking forward to her mother’s options on the ring and it’s magic.

Nimue is waiting on her in the main hall, resting next to the fire and thumbing through a book with the obvious disinterest of someone who is just using it to pass the time. "Was your journey fruitful?"

She shifted slowly and redressed. "I did."

She carefully took out the ring. "It was very unpleasant, but I think this is it."

"Such stories are rarely pleasant and their magic draws deep to refresh themselves," she said, eyeing the ring in Vivienne's hand as she closed her book.

"Do you think it will work?" She asked as she handed over the ring.

"Where it came from and why he had it is very vague? I'm hoping it is flexible."

"It might be," she says, taking the ring and turning it over in her hand. "It's magic is intact, such as it is, but whether it can be made to suit your purposes is not my expertise. I think there in someone among the artisans who can try to help you though."

"Well then, let's go talk to Angharad and see what she can do," she says, standing and handing the ring back to Vivienne. She led the way into one of the corner towers into one of the larger workshops.

The workshop has a small forge that is currently cold. Various projects, large and small, are littering well-worn workbenches. The artisan in question does not seem to be in, but a gruff female voice can be heard out on the balcony. Angharad is apparently... yelling at birds?

"Should we...interrupt?" Vivienne asked her mother as she carefully moved closer to the origins of the agitated voice.

Out on the balcony, a large orange-skinned troll woman is shaking her fist as some crows fly away.

"Always crows," she mutters, "the Lady has the Morrigan over for tea, and now we're never rid of crows."

She nodded and moved around the building to make her self visible.

"Pardon me, Forgemistress." She called up to the lady troll.

"Ah! Well then, you're not a crow."

She leans forward, nostrils flaring.

"...but I can smell one on you."

"I am Vivienne, the one you smell may be the Morrigan herself, but I have not seen with her in awhile."
