Maintenance Duty

As promised, Shatterstar has found some work for Tosh (or Bruce). Unfortunately for him his first assignment is somewhere in the bowels of the ship. Turns out there's a lot of moving parts that need greasing or repairing or replacing around the ship's engine. On the upside, the engine room is relatively large in comparison to most other rooms on the carrier, so at least that let's Tosh or even Bruce stretch his limbs a bit. On the flipside, the section they put him to work in is pretty empty, sparsely lit and full of random noises from the engine and the ship plowing through the waves. Hell just now he could even swear he heard someone's voice calling out, like a low, almost groaned "Hey..." that echoes through the metal hallways and makes it sound like it came from right behind him.

Tosh didn't expect easy work, but he at least expected other crew would be around if he had questions. It was damn creepy too. Several times he had flinched at sudden engine sounds and when he thought he heard a voice behind him he straight up jumped and whirled around.

Nothing but the shadows that occasionally move when the work-light dangling from a railing sways slightly when the ship moves.

"Toshiro..." it very clearly echoes down the corridor.

"Okay now I'm officially weirded out," he said with a shudder.

Told you this place looked haunted.
Not helping!

"Who's there?" he asked.

There's a brief pause before a whispered response is carried down the empty twists and turns of the ship. "Haley..." is the response, followed by a giggle. The voice does sound like her, but then again, it's hard to tell distorted as it is from bouncing off these metal walls.

"Not funny scaring me!" he called back. And since when did she call him Toshiro?

"Oh come on, I'm just pulling your leg." what appears to be Haley calls from the top of one of the large engines. How the hell she got there so fast is anybody's guess. She wasn't there a moment ago.

"This place is, like, way too spooky for that," he complained before smiling. "Aren't you supposed to be on the flight deck?"

"You're no fun." she smirks mischievously, ignoring his question. "I thought you'd be happy to see me, take a break from whatever they got you doing here."

"Of course I'm happy to see you," he answered, smiling. "I've barely gotten to see you since I got back."

"Shame, that." she grins as she slides down the engine. Her movement is almost a little too fluid for a person and the engine block is pretty tall, but Haley seems to land on the floor with barely any impact. "We could remedy that..." she purrs as she almost seems to stalk towards Tosh.

Okay that was weird.

Tosh figured he had been in the spooky engine room too long; it had to have been just a trick of the light. But was she usually this forward?

Who cares Bro?

"Are... you feeling alright?" he asked.

Boooo.

"Of course I'm feeling alright, silly." she says, putting her hands on Tosh's shoulders and sliding them down his back to wrap her arms around him.

"You know I'm covered in engine gunk, right?" he asked with an awkward 'why exactly am I arguing?' chuckle.

"I'm not bothered..." she grins broadly, wrapping her arms around Tosh's neck with just a little too much force. It's starting to feel less like an embrace and more like she's holding him in place. With surprisingly strong arms for such a relatively small frame.

"Haley what're you..." Tosh began with a hint of panic.

Uhh... Bro? I don't think that's Haley!

Haley looks like she's about to respond, but then her mouth just keeps opening further and further, skin opening up along her cheeks as her jaw seems to unhinge impossibly wide until the whole head is just a giant maw. Her teeth too grow longer and more jagged by the second as whatever this creature is tries to bite off Tosh's head

Tosh shifted into Bruce, using the force of the change to try and break free of the Haley-thing's grip before it got its teeth in him.

Faced with similarly sharp teeth the creature lets go of Tosh and slinks backwards slightly. Limbs grow longer, spindly, as does it's torso. Instead of trying to match Bruce's strength it seems to be taking a different route. It's still kind of human, although the elongated torso and stretched out limbs give it an almost disturbing gait that's hard to predict. Swaying slightly in it's movements it half-climbs back onto the engine blocks with way too few steps and peers down at Bruce like a four-legged spider clinging to the wall. The head is still nothing but a giant mouth and snaps at the air from time to time. One hand suddenly turns into a bony scythe and the creature lashes out at Bruce, covering a ridiculous amount of distance with it's distorted legs.

Bruce reeled but took a shallow slash across the chest. He just got that uniform too.

"What? We're in Silent Hill now?" he growl-quipped before striking at the thing.

The creature takes half a step back and sways it's torso to the side, easily moving out of range of Bruce's swipe.

"Toshiiiiro..." the creature calls out again with Haley's voice as it pulls itself up on the engine block entirely, gracefully climbing along and swiping it's bladed arm down at Bruce from above.

He leaned out of the way by mere centimeters and began to electrify himself as he moved away from its perch.

"Come at me bro. I dare you."

The creature just perches above Tosh, arms and legs planted on the engine block to his right and left. As he's charging himself up the creature grows two more limbs out of it's distorted torso that unfurl almost gracefully before jabbing straight down at Tosh.

Bruce leaned back and attempted to grab one of the limbs for electrocution. But this left him somewhat off balance.

The creature twitches when the electricity courses through it but doesn't seem too bothered by the pain. If anything the twisted maw seems to grin and let out a low moan. It still sounds a little bit like Haley, which makes the sound more than a little disturbing. The other limb stabs straight down and into Bruce's shoulder. "The End comes for all things..." it whispers almost comfortingly, which does not mesh at all with the creature's appearance or behavior.

Bruce roared in pain and fell back, pulling the gripped limb with him.

The creatures loses it's footing and goes sliding down between the engine blocks, hand and feet still pressed against the walls before it gives up and lands on the ground, hovering over Bruce like some kind of human spider.

"But you don't belong. Your end hasn't been written and thus it falls to me to do so." it coos, it's maw twisting itself into that of Tosh as it leans down, inches from Bruce's face.

"Wrong move you ugly bitch," Bruce declared in a crackling voice before opening his mouth wide to try to spit a ball of lightning directly into the monster's maw.

The creature screams out and convulses from the blast but as it does, a bright blossom of pain shoots through Tosh's mind like a migraine and the next moment his entire body feels like it's being electrocuted as the thing somehow forces it's own sensations onto him.

Bruce roared and spasmed with the unexpected pain of electrocution that an electric wereshark simply shouldn't have opportunity to feel.

Fortunately for Tosh, the sensation begins to fade as the creature is no longer being electrocuted and it's 'only' pain, even if it feels real, unlike the creature, his muscles still work perfectly fine. The monster on the other hand seems to have at least some trouble getting it's various limbs to stop twitching.

Realizing the muscle twitching wasn't actually happening, Bruce began trying to punch the thing off of him.

The punch connects and throws the thing that's mostly spindly limbs at this point backwards where it somehow catches itself on three limbs, swaying and bobbing back and forth as it regains it's balance.

Bruce took the opportunity to get back to his feet. He huffed as his gaze alternated undecidedly between the monster and the engine room's alarm panel. Tosh's sense bled through and the decision was made; he bolted for the alarm.

The creature looks at Bruce, then tilts it's head when the alarm klaxons start blaring and red lights flash. It hisses at him and then clambers up onto the engine block and up into some kind of crawlspace.

Bruce hurried out and slammed the bulkhead door behind him before becoming Tosh again to slow the bleeding. Tosh slid down to sit against the wall until his heart stopped doing a drum solo on his rib cage.

It doesn't take long for crew-members to come running, shouting questions in Russian, one of them finding something to press against Tosh's injury to stop the bleeding. Finally someone manages a "What is happening?" in heavily accented English.

Tosh wasn't entirely sure of that himself and he was still processing the bizarreness of the incident, so he said, "I don't know if it's a someone or a something, but you have an intruder on board. It tried to eat me."

"Yeah, but it fled into the ventilation system."

Why is it always the air ducts?
Cause they're cool Bro.
Ugh... that was terrible.

Wait...

"And... it can look like... people," he said as he realized what that meant, casting a wary look at the crewmen.
