"Just to make sure, you do realize that was a joke?"

"Oh, you should never joke about taking all factors into account. I've already been hassled quite enough about...the event," he said, a bit awkwardly, turning away from the computer.

"Hassled?" Ashlie asks, seeming surprised.

"Mmm. People look at you differently. They come up and talk about it. I don't need any of that."

Ashlie can't help but chuckle a little. "Well, I'm sure it'll die down eventually. In the meantime you might have to accept that you did something good and no good deed goes unpunished."

"I'll keep that in mind, too," he said, darkly.

"If you're truly bothered by people thanking you then try to explain it to them. They probably won't understand, but they might remember for the future. Either way, avoiding them as much as possible is not going to solve the problem in the long run. And I do hope you'll use your exceptional faculties for good in the future."

"Solving the problem in the long run will require a greater theory of mind. And probably lots of robots."

"I can't find any fault in the premise at least." she smirks. "But until then, do try to get along with the other students."

"If they attempt to get along with me, maybe we can make that happen."

"Unfortunately they might be under the assumption that thanking you for what you did is attempting to get along with you."

"You're saying I need to make it more clear that I don't want them to do that?"

"Possibly, yes. It helps to inform people about things or topics that make you uncomfortable."

"Understood. I'll make sure there's no mistaking me in the future."
