I2: Ten-Car Pileup in Downtown Maldon!

MALDON--Five are in the hospital this evening after a massive pileup in downtown Maldon.

According to a police spokesman, the accident occurred when the traffic light "suddenly went on the fritz", sending "go" signals in all four directions. That, plus an unexplained braking failure on one of the cars, created the havoc.

Police have no explanation for the events at this time.
