"...that sounds like a dangerous thing to tell pretty much anyone."

"Oh, I don't mean that I'd do literally anything. I just don't think you've got it in you to ask me for a bridge too far, or something i'd otherwise be opposed to," he laughed. "Just not in your nature."

"I can never tell with you, aye? No offense."

Will paused for a minute, regarding Sam. "What do you mean by that?"

"I mean what's a bridge too far for you. You're very... accommodating."

Will thought for a minute.

"You said, earlier, that you were worried about your girlfriend treating you like you're made of glass. So, maybe you can understand it when I say that...people treat me like I'm..."

He paused again.

"People treat me like I'm other people. People treat me like I'm Joe the mailman or Bonnie the dentist or something; just another regular person, walking up and down the street. Like the same rules apply to me as they do to other people. Like they'd take advantage of me, or that they'd hurt me or that they'd somehow break some unwritten rule that keeps society whizzing on by.

I'm different, and the way I've coped with being different is steering into it. In accepting that I'm different. Not better, not worse, just...different. It took a long time, but, you know, time is one thing I've had plenty of.

And I'm back at square one now, when it comes to other people, but that's OK. I've got all the time in the world.

So if I seem...accommodating, you're basing that on...on a scale which maybe doesn't apply to me so much. Maybe doesn't really fit who I am and what I do. Maybe doesn't really...matter to me as it does to other people.

"But you can see where people wouldn't really know the line is, aye? You're willing to do more for people than most people would. A lot more."

"I do," Will nodded. "It's a different paradigm.

I think I can be trusted to say when it's too much, though, aye?"

"You can, but who wants to find out there's a line after they've crossed it?"

"Is that advice to play things safe from the Morrigan?" Will grinned.

"It's not a Morrigan thing, it's just..."

"I don't like finding out I've hurt you after I've already done it, Will."

Will's grin stayed in place, though it was clearly a little more forced, now. "That's just kind of life, to a certain extent. You bumble around long enough in the kitchen, and some eggs will be broken. Life goes on."

"People aren't eggs," she says simply.

"You're right. We don't stay broken.

Me more than others."

"Am I just worrying about nothing, then?"

"I wouldn't say nothing. Stop worrying about hurting people, and you'll find that you DO hurt people. Physically and emotionally."

"I guess at least you get where I'm coming from, on this."

"But worry too much about people, and they'll start feeling like they're made of glass, right?"

"...alright, point made," she says with a faint smile.

"Then my work here is done," Will said, sliding off the piano he had been sitting on. "You're getting pretty good -- keep practicing, and I'm sure you guys will hit the big time in no time."

"Well I don't know, there's this weird guy who always heckles me," she smirks.

"Yeah, because gigs are usually free from hecklers, I find," Will laughed. "Especially the metal scene."
