Haley carefully re-wrapped the present, deciding she would be good for a change.

"Well Mr. Pine Nuts, I guess I'll wait so I don't get coal in my stocking," she giggled.

There's a good girl. Santa's always watching! the tree chuckled.

"Thank you, Will," she smiled back.

It probably looked weird to an outsider, her just smiling and occasionally laughing while gazing at the tree.

"This is really sweet. I'll have to bake you something special."

That's when Shari comes down the stairs, holding a bunch of awkwardly wrapped presents. There's lots of tape holding the various folds together and most of them have several layers of wrapping paper to shore up the missed spots. It's... a valiant effort.

It definitely contrasted to the more professional done and experienced wrapping efforts under the tree.

Amateur.

"How do you feel about pecan pie?" she grinned at the tree, oblivious to the new girl who probably saw her smiling like an idiot at the Christmas tree.

Shari heads over and starts placing her presents under the tree. "Hey Blondie. Hey Will." she says nonchalantly. She might not be good at wrapping presents, but she's got an eye for shapeshifters. Plus their conversation about trees kind of clued her in already.

“Oh! Hi Shari,” Haley replied with a start, “...wait, you already knew about Will?”

"Well he kept going on about how getting the perfect tree was important. Easiest way is to just do it yourself, yeah?"

“Shit. Was my telepathy leaking again? God damnit. I suck! No wonder my roommate ran away.” Haley grumbled.

"Hmm? No, I don't think so. It just makes sense."

Haley exhaled a sigh of relief, "Okay. Yeah. The tree is Will. He and I were talking, and when you came in and said hi to him, I got paranoid that my brain was leaking again, because it can do that sometimes, and my old roommate really hated it, so I try to be really careful about it, but sometimes i really can't help it."

Ramble much?

"Oh. No worries. Guess it's a shifter thing. You need something, you turn into it, yeah?"

“That’s kinda cool. I’d trade telepathy for that any day.”

"Pff, kinda cool." she says, elbowing the tree a bit. "Though back home someone with your power would probably be put in charge of a lot of people. Or killed on sight."

“Okay, actually really cool. I could be a brunette any day I wanted without spending money at the salon,” she smirked. “And...well I guess I’m glad I’m not from where you’re from. “

Shari chuckles. "Hell, change your hair with your mood. Be a squid or grow feathers. Eat a burger in one bite." she goes on, unhinging her jaw into some kind of reptilian maw as she does.

“I mean....I could try to eat a burger in one bite already. But that would be way easier,” she giggled.

"That better not be a challenge to an eating contest, cause let me tell you. I'd win." she grins with a mouth that's much too wide.

“Don’t underestimate my size. I can almost keep up with my wereshark boyfriend,” she grinned.

"But can you grow additional stomachs?"

“Damnit. No.”

"Winner, shapeshifting." she grins, growing two additional arms with which to flex at Haley.

Haley playfully stuck out her tongue and flipped Shari off.

"Hate the contest, not the winner." Shari nods sagely after butchering the colloquialism.
