"Or maybe you're just bad at it."

Emilie rolled her eyes.

"Yea, that's it. Disease ridden, starving homeless people everywhere have got it figured out. I'm clearly the asshole here."

Spending the last hundred years around teenagers meant she knew when a teenager just wanted to bury their head in the sand and were going to have to learn the lesson the hard way. Even if that meant their lesson left them exceptionally emotionally scarred or even dead. And really, she wasn't her mother, so why did she care?

Emilie disappeared inside for a moment, but returned relatively quickly with what Shari had asked for, holding out a box of energy bars.

"Have fun sleepin' in the dumpster. You know where to call if you need us."

"Cause humans are weak." she mutters while Emilie ducks inside.

"I don't need dumpsters. You can sleep anywhere if you take the right shape." she says haughtily when Emilie returns with the box, taking it a bit too energetically and tucking it under her arm.

"You're the one who said I'd be sleeping in a dumpster."

"Yeeeep." She replied.

Now came the awkward silence. Em was clearly not going to let her back in through the kitchen as she looked at Shari, waiting for her to make up her mind about what she was gonna do.

Shari just turns around, box of energy bars under her arm and the bag full of other stuff slung over her shoulder and she walks away.
