Tinkling piano sounds came out of the music room, occasionally interrupted by muttering and restarting, as Will practiced.

Sam makes her way into the practice room. She looks a bit rough around the edges, and her ears come to slight points. She takes a seat across from Will, apparently not about to interrupt him.

At first, Will apparently paid no attention to his visitor, but the song he played gradually morphed into something...well, not quite traditional, per se, nor more appropriate, quite, but...well, at least aware of his audience.

"Har har," Sam says, crossing her arms.

"Having trouble with a song?"

"Just trying to remember something I heard once, and twist it into something new.

Good writers borrow, great writers steal and all that," he said, with a light shrug.

"Have some time to talk, or would you rather keep banging your head against that?"

"You look like you need to talk," Will said, observing Sam's general state. "Rough night?"

"Could say that. Fun night while it lasted, just... weird night."

"Have a little too much to drink? All part of being a college student, Sam," Will grinned, lopsided.

"...I may have caused a somewhat localized religious experience."

"...OK, that's new and different," he said, with a frown.

"How localized are we talking about?"

"A night club in Chelmsford?"

"And I assume the nightclub is still standing? No need to check the news for reports of mass rioting, or Chelmsford declaring itself independent?" he said, with a wry chuckle.

"I mean, if anything the club owner is pretty chuffed that I did it, but it's... I think you know which club by now."

"I actually haven't gotten out much -- I was confined to campus for a long time, remember? And I'm afraid my knowledge of 25-year old Chelmsford nightclubs isn't quite what it should be," he said, apologetically.

"It's the one that's run by an immortal witch that I apparently used to date in a former life," she says as if that's the most normal thing in the world.

"...You've got exes littered all across the land, don't you? I guess that comes part and parcel with being a continuation of a long line, as it were."

"So aye. She's... a believer of sorts. Apparently because she's cut a deal with several of my past lives to say I won't take her."

"Oh, did she? Must have offered up something pretty nice to get that sort of racket going."

"I don't know what the original offer was, but she's had to renew it each time. I took the deal because Viv needed some help awhile back."

"Anyway, I've got a... standing invitation of sorts at the Raven's Crest, if the name didn't give it away."

"She wants more performances from the Morrigan, or is she looking for more of a...private showing?"

"I don't think she's interested in getting back with me, but having the Morrigan in full throat at the club last night... hallowed it, I suppose."

"Well, I can certainly understand the draw," Will nodded. "Have to admit I tried a few similar things when I was young and stupid.

Now, of course, I'm just stupid," he added, chuckling.

"Just have to... deal with some of the fallout here."

"I told Tereza I wanted to show her a good time now that I'm back from Muir. At some point it wasn't her facing forward but the wolf. Didn't shift or anything, but she'd said the wolf was riding her hard ever since the mission."

"And I just thought... well, if the wolf can be calmed down, Tereza would have an easier time of things. So I asked the wolf what she wanted."

"Then I gave it to her."

"...seems like," she sighs.

"It was definitely the furthest we've ever gone. She wanted to be with me in as many ways as she could until we were worn out."

Will coughed slightly at that mental image.

"R...right. Well, that's...I mean, that's understandable," he said, regaining his composure.

"But you've got two voices up in there, and they might not always agree on, uh, what they want. From you or, erm, in general.

Might have ended up just encouraging the wolf. Give a mouse a cookie and all that."

"My relationship with her wolf is... different."

"Which is also a religious thing, I guess."

"The wolf likes the idea of... belonging to the Morrigan."

Will nodded, as if that was the most normal thing in the world. "But then you've got the Tereza factor, who is a strong independent woman who don't need no goddess, snap in z formation."

"...something like that. I mean, she's okay with it most of the time."

"But the wolf..."

"...I think the wolf believes."

"Tough to have that dichotomy in one head. It's fine if some people believe and some don't, but when they're the same person at the end of the day...

...well, yer kinda boned, I'm afraid."

"And I think that's going to have to be something you put up with while Tereza and the wolf sort of...sort each other out.

You can't treat either one the way they want to be treated without annoying the other. And if it's a true partnership in there, as opposed to Tereza just trying to keep something in check, then you have the problem of them wanting different, contradictory things at different times. You can't please both all the time."

"I thought she was making progress, aye? You saw her during the mission, with the ice stuff while shifted? She never used to be able to do that at the same time."

Will hrmed for a moment.

"That DOES sound like progress, though maybe not in the direction you would have hoped for.

Maybe it wasn't Tereza mastering her wolf side. Maybe it's the wolf side mastering Tereza."
