"Yes you may, Basil." He was, of course, always welcome to speak his mind. But Colette found that he seemed happier when she gave him permission rather than her insisting he was free.

[Basil Benson]

"You yourself don't speak very plainly Madame Rosenhof. Perhaps that's what attracted me to you. It's a very British behavior.

Perhaps your roommate prefers a more direct approach to problem solving. Instead of suggesting alternate ideas that have the ulterior motive of benefiting you, perhaps you should simply ask her politely to stop doing whatever it is that's offensive, and problem solve the solution as the second step.

I find that polite honesty is always appreciated, passive aggression or beating around the bush less so."

Colette let out a little sigh. "She said somezing similar to me as well. I will have to work on my... forwardness."

[Basil Benson]

"You can always practice with me." He replied. Back to flirting.

[Colette Rosenhof]

"Oh, zere is no doubt about zat." Colette chirped cheerfully.

[Basil Benson]

Basil got quiet, and then after a moment of reflection, moody.

"Whatever am I going to do without you for these next few weeks?"

[Colette Rosenhof]

Colette considered the question. "You're going to have lunches with me, and talk with me on the phone in the evening, and send me texts at random times when you have some little thought you want to share. Occasionally we'll go out to a restaurant or a movie. And you've got a house to work on renovating... imagine what surprises wait in store for me in just a few weeks. It sounds to me like you've got so much on your plate the question isn't what you're going to do, but when you're going to find time to sleep."

[Basil Benson]

"You know what I meant, cheeky.

I'm going to be starving by the end of this." He observed, harking back to a euphemism they'd shared.

[Colette Rosenhof]

"Yes, you are." Colette bit her bottom lip.

[Basil Benson]

"Oh..... Oooooooohhhhhhh...." Basil cleared his throat, and gently encouraged Colette to sit up.

"I should go before I embarrass myself." He added as his logic for needing to leave suddenly.

[Colette Rosenhof]

Colette pushed herself to her feet and stepped aside, smoothing out her skirt a bit.

"Feeling better now?"

[Basil Benson]

"Welp- feeling something now." He replied, patting her on the head as a signal he wasn't angry.

"I'll text you." He said, making to leave.

"Yes, you will."

Colette gave Basil's tush a little pat as he departed.

Basil didn't respond, though that did seem to quicken his pace a touch.

Once he was out of the cafeteria, Colette would get a text.

Guess we've figured out a reason for you to punish me.
