Crying Breakfast Friends!

[Onyx]

After they finished their workout (and tended to any injuries Nailah accumulated), Onyx follows Nailah to the cafeteria for some breakfast.

Onyx loads her tray with healthy options--fruit, oatmeal, and plain wheat toast--before she sits down.

"You are learning quickly," Onyx says. "I am very impressed."

"Glad I'm not as bad a student as I feel like." she jokes, though there's a bit of truth to it. She's got a bunch of bandages on her fingers and most of her body feels like one big bruise either from exhaustion or from punches and kicks. Unlike Onyx she's slightly less nutritionally minded and has a pile of bacon, sausage and scrambled eggs on her plate. "You sure go all out with this stuff."

[Onyx]

"I hope I am not being too hard on you," Onyx says. "I am trying to train you the way I was trained, but it is difficult. I do not have the same abilities as my mentor."

[Nailah Weaver]

"No. I wanna do this right. And it's exciting, makes me feel all alive, almost like flying but more... intense. And I think that's because I know you're not going to pull your punches. Makes me feel like you think I can handle it, even if I really can't yet." she chuckles, wincing a little. Getting kicked in the stomach had not been quite as fun as she's trying to make it sound.

[Onyx]

"I do think you can handle it," Onyx says. "But I still feel bad about hurting you."

"So, you will have to get better quickly," Onyx teases.

[Nailah Weaver]

"You sure didn't look sorry when you tried to stab me." she chuckles. "But I'll try not to make you feel bad by letting you hurt me." she sticks her tongue out at Onyx.

[Onyx]

"Good," Onyx says. "Because tomorrow morning we will begin using swords."

[Nailah Weaver]

"You want to do this again tomorrow already!?"

[Onyx]

"You should be practicing every day," Onyx says.

[Nailah Weaver]

"Oh god, you're gonna be the death of me... What about days when we already train with the teams?"

[Onyx]

"Ideally, I would like to get the entire team training every day," Onyx says.

[Nailah Weaver]

"I dunno if you'd be able to convince them. We do have classes too, you know."

[Onyx]

"It would only take a couple of hours every day," Onyx says.

[Nailah Weaver]

"A couple hours of training and a couple of hours of class and a couple of hours of homework and then just fall into bed exhausted?"

[Onyx]

"Exactly," Onyx says, nodding.

[Nailah Weaver]

"What about having some fun and relaxing?"

[Onyx]

"Well..." Onyx pauses. "They are fine. On occasion."

"I have not made a full schedule yet. Maybe set aside an hour a week?"

[Nailah Weaver]

"Okay, how about this. I will train with you every day, but some of those we'll just go for a run or at least something that doesn't involve you beaten the crap out of me and in turn you spend at least an hour each day doing something fun."

[Onyx]

"An hour everyday?" Onyx asks. "...I suppose that is only fair."

[Nailah Weaver]

"Trust me, it's gonna be harder on me than it'll be on you."

[Onyx]

"I suppose it depends on what we do," Onyx says.

[Nailah Weaver]

"Running is hard work. Dancing around in the XUB is not." she needles Onyx a little.

[Onyx]

"Are you planning on taking me dancing again?" Onyx asks. "That was fun."

[Nailah Weaver]

"Sure! With the way you can move we're gonna make an incredible dancer out of you." she grins.

[Onyx]

"I will do my best to not disappointment you," Onyx says, smiling.

[Nailah Weaver]

"I'm just glad you're enjoying stuff other than fighting crime. You gotta know what you're fighting for and that's for people to be happy." she nods sagely.

[Onyx]

"It feels a little selfish though," Onyx admits. "I was always taught to live in service to others. To put them before myself."

"'I am nothing'," Onyx quotes. "'They are everything.'"

[Nailah Weaver]

"Helping people is good but that sounds like... well... like you just kind of traded one kind of servitude for another. It doesn't sound like it's fair to you."

[Onyx]

"Many things are unfair," Onyx says. "But I always had a choice. I was never forced to do any of this."

[Nailah Weaver]

"Oh, no no no, that's not what I meant! Just that... well you deserve to have a little bit of time for yourself in exchange for all the good you do."

[Onyx]

"I have not done any good lately," Onyx says. "Maldon's crime rate is ridiculously low."

[Nailah Weaver]

"Hmm... Would it make you feel better if we went to London and tried to find some crimes?"

[Onyx]

"Yes!" Onyx says excitedly. "That would be wonderful."

[Nailah Weaver]

"Let's catch a ride to the big city some time then. We can go shopping in the evening and then patrol for crimes!"

[Onyx]

"That sounds perfect," Onyx says. "I will be looking forward to it."

[Nailah Weaver]

"I'll look up which neighborhoods are off the worst."

[Onyx]

"Yes, I will do some research as well," Onyx says. "It will be good practice at gathering information."
