Practicing Bitchcraft

There's a raucous but definitely musical noise coming from the practice room, as the pack work their way through a song.

Sam is particularly in the groove, hair flailing as she keeps the time.

Stephanie was noodling away on a piano in another practice room when the band started practicing. Her nostrils flared as she caught the scent of who was in the other room. A werewolf rock band? This she needed to see.

She leaned against the wall outside and watched through the window in the door, listening and jamming along, but noticing a somewhat pronounced lack of bass.

Once there was a break in the song she knocked and poked her head in. "You girls sound great...though you seem to be short a bass."

"Hey, Steph," Tereza says, making a few adjustments on her guitar. "We are short a bass, but we're making do."

"Aye, not a lot of bass players around here," Sam says as she puts the sticks down and wipes the sweat off her face.

Steph paused for a moment, pondering.

“....It’s...been a minute, and I don’t have one, but I can play bass. Does the music department have a loaner?”

“....I mean, if you are wanting a bass. I don’t know if I’m cool enough or good enough to hang with you guys though,” she smirked. “I was just the high school orchestra geek who taught herself to play electric bass to impress a boy.”

"Could always see what she's got," she says to Tereza.

"What do you think?"

"Sure. Let's find you an instrument and get you hooked up. You know Sam already. And you've probably seen Vivienne around."

"Pretty sure I saw one," she nods as she goes to rummage in a nearby storage room.

"Ah, wunderbar," she soon says.

Steph followed Sam to search for an instrument and grinned as one was presented to her. "Okay. I can sight read pretty well, but I'm probably a little rusty, and if I'm absolutely terrible, you can completely tell me to get out."

"Adding you would cement the band name and you're likely to be as good as or better then I. Completely different era of instructions."

"What's the band name?" she asked, adjusting the straps on the guitar and getting hooked in to the equipment.

“Bitchcraft.” Vivienne states with a very business like nod.

Stephanie chuckled, “I’ll have to work up the nerve to repeat that one.”

"You're a werewolf that... doesn't swear?" She quirks an eyebrow.

“Well...*she* swears all the time...” she blushed a bit. “I...I’m working up to it”

"Can you play bass while you're hairy scary?" She smirks.

“Considering I get stuck that way sometimes maybe I should find out,” she pondered aloud. “Claws are pretty sharp...don’t want to break the strings.

"Do it gently enough, it might work like a pick. And there's always picks around if that doesn't work."

Stephanie bit her lip a bit hesitantly. "I...well. I guess I could try if you girls like... But I might need help changing back before my date tonight."

“Okay,” she nodded, looking a bit relieved, as she finished adjusting the bass strapped to her, tuning a bit as she strummed a few chords and scales.

"Let's try one that needs a bit more bass now that we have one," she says, moving to where Steph can see her own chord changes. "You're going to want pick it like this," she says, demonstrating, "And just follow me. Let Sam set the beat for you." She makes a couple of adjustments and then picks out an opening riff.

((OOC: Song is probably NSFW.))

Sam smirks as she recognizes the song, beginning to lay down the beat.

Stephanie glanced over the sheet music, nodding as she hummed the notes on the page, sort of air-strumming her way through, and paying no attention to the lyrics whatsoever.

"Okay," she exhaled nervously, playing her part. Stephanie was pretty good bass player, if a little uptight at first, but as she progressed through the song she started to actual listen to the lyrics that were being sung.

There's a king size bed but we can do it on the floor.
Turn your cellphone off, leave a sign at the door that says
Do not disturb
And if I were you, I'd bring your girlfriend too
Two is better than one, three is better than two...

Her eyes widened, and she missed a few notes, her face crimson before she put a game face back on and got back into the groove.

Sam's grinning by the time they finish the song.

"Sounded good there. Problem with the material, though?"

The red returned to Stephanie's cheeks once again.

"I....listen, I grew up very... very, very conservative. I'd like to think I mellowed a bit when I got to college, and...well here has been an adjustment..."

She exhaled. "I'm...working on it."

"This is the kind of band you're thinking you're joining."

"And I'm dating the other two."

"Fair disclosure, aye?"

....I can do this. I can do this...I can do this...

"I...well I've gotten myself inadvertently almost naked around a large portion of the school population at this point...and my other half is a lot more...adventurous than I am...so maybe I can learn to be one of the cool kids?"

She didn't sound especially convinced of herself, but the desire was there.

"It's not a long set. Have to let the other bands have some time."

"Unless you'd like us to break you in more thoroughly," she smirks.
