[Plot] Wearing the Face That She Keeps in a Jar by the Door

"There's defense, there's caution, and there's this. That's all the more I'll say on that."

"Oblivion it is, then. You'll know when you're needed," she says as the Jezii start to break up into ravens, and she starts to turn the mindscape in on itself.

[Katarina Karkov]

Rumbling and shaking, as Sam brings down a curtain of darkness over all.

Katarina just nodded, and looked off into an undefined middle distance.

[Samantha McManus]

Not content to leave the princess in total darkness, Sam leaves her with at least something.

She takes a mental image of Katarina standing over a defeated Doctor Doom, his armor shattered. An adoring Jez is... tastefully draped over the princess. Infusing this image with a feeling of triumph, Sam turns it too in on itself, wrapping it around until it's a single light above the darkness.

Then, she withdraws carefully from Katarina's mind.

Back in the real world, Katarina sort of slumped over a little bit, Jacques catching her as she tipped over.

"She is alright, then?"

[Samantha McManus]

"She's as ready as I can make her."

[Jacques Ciseleur]

"Then I thank you, and I'm sure the princess will too, once she is able," Jacques nodded. "The poor girl."

[Samantha McManus]

"She... needs help," she nods. "Be gentle, aye? Otherwise, I'll know."

[Jacques Ciseleur]

"Help is why I am here," Jacques nodded, misunderstanding Sam. "I assure you, I shall work nonstop to help her as much as I can; if anyone can restore her, it is I."
