DT1: Refueling

Up until recently maintained as a museum, the childhood home of the Braddock family has been pressed into service as classroom space for the University. Additionally, the increased demands have led to the main ballroom being converted into a cafeteria for University students on a meal plan. The old library has been bolstered with college textbooks.

Miriam could work the clay like it was...well, clay in the hands of a potter. She now had one old-timey-esque metal detector!

And it was beeping like CRAZY, though the indication wasn't so much that it was "down" so much that it was "off to the left, in one of those large buildings".

...This metal detector apparently ran on Plotonium.

It's a detector and it's, presumably, pointing her at metal. Regardless of how one would work in reality, this one does exactly what Miriam needs it to do. She floats over towards the indicated building, looking for a good way inside.

Now, THIS is strange. Most of the buildings here are ruins, but this one has an actual padlock on it. Not one of the fancy locks that the mysterious wooden box has, but an actual, factual padlock.

"Now this is different." she muses and scoops out a handful of clay. Pressing it against the lock she tries to will it into the correct shape to open the lock. No reason to question her approach to most problems in here when there's a sea of seemingly limitless potential all around her.

It took a few tries, but she could get it open. What a useful substance Will was! It was just a regular lock.

Now, most of the buildings Miriam had encountered were, as a rule, empty. This one was anything BUT. It would definitely explain the metal detector going like crazy.

Row after row after row after row of switches, tape machines and the like were whirring away like crazy, where they stood out from the clay. The room was filled with stack after stack of reels upon reels of tape. What the heck WAS all this?

Unlike most of the rest of this, THIS room didn't feel "wrong" or "out of place"--this seemed more or less like a normal mindscape.

"Finally!" She moves over to one of the tapes to pick up the reel. Holding it she tries to see if she can gleam what is on it, or at least what kind of thing. Her immediate assumption is memories, but with Will it's hard to tell.

It's a big ol' roll of computer tape, like the kind the used in ancient history. It was dusty as heck, but intact.

There were a TON of these reels here, only some of them intact.

She frowns and reaches down into the clay once again. This time she makes a column rise up along with her hand so she has a bit more volume to work with. Without moving her hand much she begins willing it into a rough humanoid shape, her hand still resting on it's 'head'. It's maybe 3 feet tall and taking on more and more definition until it looks like a tiny, clay-y version of Will.

"Can you talk?" she asks her creation.

Will, sadly, shook his head

"Everybody knows there's nothing doing. Everything is closed, it's like a ruin."

Nevertheless, he walked back into the room, beckoning Miriam to follow him.

Will shrugged, as they walked back inside the room.

Will walked through rows of switches, flipping some and twisting some dials, before removing the cover of a chair in front of an old typewriter-style keyboard. Next to it was a reel-to-reel player.

"You can talk to me."

Bam! The screen started flickering through a ton of information, going into insane detail on the composition and structure of the vehicle in question. A metric assload of data cycled through here, with pictures from all possible angles flashing up on the screen almost too fast to monitor.

On the bottom a progress bar was stuck at...well, it didn't have a number ahead of it, but it was about 2/3rds? And ever-so-slowly going up.
