I2DT: The Invisibles

[Chase Delacroix]

"Except the talking in libraries one," he teased.

[Basil Benson]

"Oh I enforce that rule so I get to decide when it's in play. Like red light/green light.

Basil says let's make a lot of noise in the Quiet zone."

[Chase Delacroix]

"Ever tempted to go completely invisible and randomly shush people?"

[Basil Benson]

"That is wicked." Basil replied, sounding amused. He was quiet for a moment before he continued.

" I wander sometimes in my suit... the one the school provided for me to turn completely invisible. Not just here, but by myself. When I want to be alone.

I bring it up because when I am like that sometimes I accidentally scare the daylightd out of people and when that happens they make some pretty amusing faces at times."

[Chase Delacroix]

"I have a bad habit of unintentionally sneaking up on people myself. I guess the reactions can be pretty funny," he smirked.

[Basil Benson]

"The best is the showers. When I walk up to the mirror and they can see my reflection but not my body. Or when I go from not being there at all to a disembodied towel.

Machismo prevents them from admitting they may have soiled themselves."

[Chase Delacroix]

He smirked.

"I thought I heard something about the showers being haunted."

[Basil Benson]

"Oh yes. By the most glorious of Jewfros, to borrow a slang from you Yanks."

[Chase Delacroix]

He just raised a brow.

"I have absolutely no idea what that means."

[Basil Benson]

"I have to cut my own hair since no one can see it. And cutting you one hair is a wonderful task when your hair wants to eat scissors.


As such it gets a bit... Out of hand."

[Chase Delacroix]

"Well now I have to see your reflection," he smirked.

[Basil Benson]

"But what if I'm shy Chase?" Basil was already giggling as he said it, even he couldn't keep a straight face at that one.

[Chase Delacroix]

"Never even crossed my mind," he smirked.

[Basil Benson]

" I wonder why." Basil finished checking out his books with a grin.

"Alright mate, two more books for you."

[Chase Delacroix]

"Thanks," he smiled, "Can't wait to get started on these."

[Basil Benson]

"Sadly, my favourite character from Harry Potter doesn't get introduced until the fourth book, but two is pretty solid reading material."

"And Katniss is always amazing... But Joanna is intriguing as well.

I won't ruin it for you."

[Chase Delacroix]

"I'm actually relating to Katniss more than Harry, though I'm enjoying Harry Potter more. Is that weird?"

[Basil Benson]

"Not at all, I feel exactly the same!"

Basil shrugged.

"I mean, honestly? I don't like Harry Potter as a character." He laughed. " He's obnoxious. Katniss is likable in her flaws, but you're right that the world of Harry Potter is more engrossing. But perhaps also because it's more upbeat. The world of Panem feels like... not matter how much one wins, they're still kind of losing, ey?"

[Chase Delacroix]

"Exactly. It's a society that forces its children to murder each other. Victory for a contestant can't erase that stain on them. Nothing can," he said, a bit too passionately.

[Basil Benson]

"Well, not on that society as it is no. Maybe that's also the problem... It's not entirely realistic. I mean, neither is Harry Potter but that's okay because you're reading about witches and wizards so you are suspending your disbelief anyways." He laughed.

"It is my opinon that anyone can be redeemed. All wounds heal with time, leaving only the scars to remind one of what happened so we don't engage in that behavior again.

But Panem doesn't feel like that truth holds water."

[Chase Delacroix]

Would he still say that if he knew the truth about me?

"I'm not sure I agree entirely about there being no redemption in it. Katniss nursing Peeta back to health felt like a redemption to me. It's her desire... no, her actions to help others that helps wash the blood off her hands."

[Basil Benson]

"Hers yes. Katniss is only doing what she is forced to do.

I don't know about society at large though. Not the one that stands in place anyways.

But if I say anything more I might ruin it for you." He replied playfully.

[Chase Delacroix]

"Right. Good call," he smiled, though something in his eyes looked distant somehow.

[Basil Benson]

Basil of course, misinterpreted the signal, having no way of knowing what was going on in Chase's mind.

"You can always flag me down when you get through those bits and we can discuss it more." He offered.

[Chase Delacroix]

His thoughts returned to the present.

"Yeah, I'll probably do that. And maybe I'll run across you in the Union Building and we can talk about whatever."

[Basil Benson]

"Definitely!"
