I2DT: "Yes. One of those would be just the thing."

Up until recently maintained as a museum, the childhood home of the Braddock family has been pressed into service as classroom space for the University. Additionally, the increased demands have led to the main ballroom being converted into a cafeteria for University students on a meal plan. The old library has been bolstered with college textbooks.

I2DT: "Yes. One of those would be just the thing."

Friday Morning was not the morning to be Basil Oliver Benson. Not as far as he was concerned anyways.

Normally he'd make a perfectly good dining partner, but this morning he was in a rough mood, which for him meant he was going to be an Eeyore of a human being... mutant... Invisible donkey man?

He stared at the food items he'd placed on his plate, reorganizing his bubble and squeak into separate piles of potatoes and Brussels sprouts, and then leaning into his palm with a sigh to stare at them.

Amy had a rough night. Still kind of jet-lagged and in an unfamiliar place full of shark-people and god knows what else she's not exactly feeling at ease. Which in turn makes it hard to reign in the droning hum of energy inside her. So really, who can blame her for missing the invisible kid as she sits down at the table. Turns out that skimming the room for heads to find an empty table doesn't work at a Mutant school, so she freezes up a little upon looking up and seeing the empty set of clothes across the table.

"Oh..."

Basil looked up from his plate of vegetables to notice a girl had sat down and immediately straighted his posture.

"Ah. Hello." He said, not altogether impolite but lacking in it's usual enthusiasm.

"I... uh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize someone was sitting here..." she says, eyes kind of going all over the place as she tries to figure out what to focus on when talking to an apparently invisible person. She finally settles on Basil's collar. "You're invisible." she adds, stating the obvious out of sheer awkwardness.

"That I am." He replied, again lacking in his usual zest for life. To someone like Amy, someone who wasn't really used to him usually being peppy, he sounded like a very chill and 'cool guy' individual. Not at all like Basil really, but she wouldn't know that just yet.

Basil pulled his vanity glasses out of his pocket and slipped them onto his face to give her a frame of reference as to where to look.

"And you are not."

"Yes. Well, despite the statistics of the student body being hellbent on making me look like an idiot, it seems mathematically improbable for us all to be impossibly attractive bisexual females. Somebody gets to be lobster boy, and the universe picked me."

He didn't sound angry. More like resigned.

"Name's Basil."

"Amy. And at least you don't turn into a hideous shark monster, yeah? I mean... you're not actually a lobster boy, right?" she asks, suddenly realizing that she doesn't really know that. For all she knows Basil could be all kinds of strange and she'd never know.

"Well, I'm operating a fork. That's usually indicative that I have at least three functioning, relatively slender digits."

The fork if question was floating disembodied like in what must have been his left hand.

Basil bobbed his head back and forth a bit, some kind of social cue it seemed, but hard to interpret.

"It's actually not as bad here as people make it out to be, especially not here in the south. In the whole of the UK the average rain days are somewhere around 133 days. Most of that is up north though. You also have to factor in that it doesn't really get cold enough to snow very often, so our winter storms are usually rain ones instead of snow storms.

But I know we Brits love to complain about how depressing it is here so I assume everyone who lives in a country that also speaks English gets to hear us whinging on about it whether directly through conversation or indirectly through our pop culture."
