A Girl's Gotta Eat

[Tereza Rozanov]

Released back into the relative 'wilds' of the student population, Tereza takes long enough to make herself presentable before she goes straight to the cafeteria. She loads up her tray and drops herself into a seat at an empty table, digging into her food.

[Shane Marsh]

Shane came over from another table and sat across from her. "So... werewolf eh?" he said, unsure of how to start such a conversation.

[Tereza Rozanov]

"Maybe," she says, looking a little apprehensive. "Doctor McCoy's still running tests and the Headmistress refuses to call it what it demonstrably looks like."

[Shane Marsh]

"Well the important thing is you're still you, or they wouldn't have let you out yet."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"I spent three nights being at least partially 'not me', so we won't be throwing the celebration party *just* yet," she says. "Sorry about attacking you, by the way."

[Shane Marsh]

"Sorry about the snootfull of wolfsbane. I can barely believe that bloody worked."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"I don't remember a ton about that night. Things were kind of... raw."

[Shane Marsh]

"It's probably for the best not to remember everything you do when not in control of your actions. Generally speaking, at least."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"I hate not having control. Hate it like I hate few other things."

[Shane Marsh]

"I can definitely empathize with having your body do its own thing. Snarly bits notwithstanding."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"At least I didn't bite anyone," she says, digging into more of her meal. "And they caught the woman who bit me."

[Shane Marsh]

"Already?" he asked in surprise, "That was bloody damn quick."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"She just showed up," Tereza says, "I'm not entirely sure why or what happened, but the Headmistress managed it."

[Shane Marsh]

"What? She just turned herself in?" he asked, sounding incredibly British just then.

[Tereza Rozanov]

"I don't know the details, but yeah, I guess. Kind of weird. She's hunting someone, but she won't say who."

[Shane Marsh]

"Well that's not suspicious at all," he said sarcastically. "She must think she can get out and find her target."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"Once I've had a chance to be out and about again, I'm going to go try to talk to her. See if I can get some more information or something."

[Shane Marsh]

"Want any backup?"

[Tereza Rozanov]

"Maybe. You sure you want to? She's pretty intent on being the big bad wolf and she knows you."

[Shane Marsh]

"She saw me once before. That doesn't mean she knows me. I can handle myself."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"On the plus side, she claims she wasn't trying to kill you when you were a kid. She says if she'd actually been hunting you, you wouldn't be here now."

[Shane Marsh]

"Begs the question who was she after back then. I didn't hear of anyone in the vicinity being gruesomely mauled to death."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"I don't know. I can't even find out who she's after *now*. A 'why' would also be nice, but I have a feeling she might say 'because'."

[Shane Marsh]

"Or something crazy like 'the devil said so'. Which, come to think of it, hopefully isn't too close to the truth for comfort."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"We'll deal with the 'devil' should he show his face. My primary concern is that some of her other 'children' might come looking for her."

[Shane Marsh]

"Bloody hell... there are more?" After a moment, he added, "Of course there are. There's never just one wolf."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"She didn't really seem to care where they were, so it may be a moot point, but she could always summon them I think." She sighs, "Shit. I feel like I'm playing a game where I know none of the rules."

[Shane Marsh]

"Supernatural critters certainly love their games. Pity they're only fun for them."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"We'll get to the bottom of this. We'll have to."
