"Oh, and I might be a charter member of Oprah's book club"

[Chisaki Watanabe]

Chisaki wandered into the library, dressed up as usual with a pastel cardigan to match. She began looking about curiously with her violet eyes in an attempt to spot the librarian, but that was proving trickier than she initially thought.

[Chase Delacroix]

Chase, in an unimaginative 'regular guy' t-shirt and jeans combo, emerged from the stacks. He glanced up from reading a book jacket to curiously look in her direction.

[Chisaki Watanabe]

That was probably a mistake as now she was moving towards him.

"Hello!" She greeted, probably a little too loudly.

"Do you work here?"

[Chase Delacroix]

"No, just a bookworm," he chuckled, "but I know a guy who does."

[Chisaki Watanabe]

"I did not see this man." She observed aloud. "Would you know where I could find text books?"

[Chase Delacroix]

"Not being seen is... kinda his thing," he answered, "And I might, depending on the subject."

[Chisaki Watanabe]

"Oh?" She says about Chase's observation of his friend. "Is he a lizardman? Like a chameleon? "

[Chase Delacroix]

"He's... well he's invisible."

[Chisaki Watanabe]

"Oh! How interesting! " She states, then pauses for a moment of thought.

"AHh! I am sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Chisaki Watanabe. I am eighteen, a freshman, and new here.

Who are you?"

[Chase Delacroix]

"Nice to meet you Chisaki. I'm Chase Delacroix. Same age but have been here a while now."

His pronunciation of the name was better than most Americans, though there was an odd bit of unconscious Chinese accent to it.

[Chisaki Watanabe]

Chisaki beamed at Chase's politeness, she wasn't used to people reciprocating properly.

"It is nice to meet you Delacroix-san!" She replied. "I think that if you took me to the general section I could probably find it from there, though I am looking for a book on art history that I must copy some pages out of."

[Chase Delacroix]

"Yeah. I can do that," he nodded before leading the way. "So, what kind of art?"

[Chisaki Watanabe]

"I do not know! It is just a general class I think, a pre-requisite towards my major though so might as well kill two birds I suppose. "

[Chase Delacroix]

"Ah. What major is that?" he asked out of idle curiosity.

[Chisaki Watanabe]

"Textile sciences." She looked at Chase for a moment.

"Are you on teams?"

[Chase Delacroix]

"The X-Men teams? I am," he nodded, "Why?"

[Chisaki Watanabe]

"Someday, I am going to make their special suits, and many other things.

You should probably get my autograph now." She said with mock bravado.

[Chase Delacroix]

He chuckled. "I could definitely use something stealthier than a giant yellow X."

[Chisaki Watanabe]

"Yes, school bus yellow is a bad colour. It does not go well with my complexion." She stated. "Lead on Delacroix-san."

[Chase Delacroix]

"You joining the teams too?" he asked while walking.

[Chisaki Watanabe]

"Actually, I am thinking about starting one! A special one." She replied. "I must ask the Headmistress if it is alright first."

[Chase Delacroix]

"She'll probably tell you to talk to Miss Kinney. She's in charge of the teams."

[Chisaki Watanabe]

"Mmmmmaybe, but I do not think the team leads project will be interested in what I have an idea for."

[Chase Delacroix]

"Which is what?"

[Chisaki Watanabe]

Chisaki looked at Chase for a moment, trying to think how to explain properly.

"In Japan we have many extra curricular clubs in school. Dance clubs, martial arts clubs, music clubs and even some clubs that are just school funded fan clubs.

I want to start a club for any of the students who might be interested in defending the school or even themselves with their powers, but are not interested in risking themselves on teams.

I think that it has always been that the students may use the Danger Room to train themselves as they see fit but I think that without the team's level of organization, many of the students fail to see their true potential and settle for 'being in control'. Sometimes they have an embarrassing mutation or something they find scary, and so they will not use it out of fear.

I think that if certain students did not have the pressure to succeed that the life or death situations being on a team requires, they would do better. They might even be able to become team members later if they could face their fears."

[Chase Delacroix]

"That sounds like a fantastic idea. Sadly, we probably do need a second line of defense because the teams may not always be on campus when danger comes knocking. We can't be everywhere at once either."

[Chisaki Watanabe]

Some girls might blush at a compliment from a male simply because it came from a male. Not Chisaki. Her face lit up like a child who'd been told she had the right answer by her third grade teacher.

"Yes!" She says, not thank you. "Exactly!

I think it will be just the thing for some individuals to help them." For a split second Chisaki's brow furrowed as she thought of something, but whatever it was she didn't share.

"I am glad you agree."

[Chase Delacroix]

"Were you a student at the Institute?" he asked, guessing from her enlightened view of how to deal with mutant powers.

[Chisaki Watanabe]

"Yes, but you were not." It didn't sound accusatory or mean, simply an observation. " Unless you were also invisible?"

[Chase Delacroix]

"I'm very very sneaky, but no. I wish I had been though."

[Chisaki Watanabe]

"Why?"

[Chase Delacroix]

"Because if life here is any indication, it would have been amazing."

[Chisaki Watanabe]

"It was fun at first but I got bored."

[Chase Delacroix]

"Boredom can be a blessing for some of us," he said, then smirking, "On occasion."

[Chisaki Watanabe]

She shrugged. " I cannot stand it. If something is not going on I do not know what to do with myself." She admitted. "I think perhaps I am getting better at figuring out how to manage it." She replied as a quintessential eighteen year old might.

[Chase Delacroix]

"I personally find that reading takes the edge off," he said as they reached their first destination. "And here are the textbooks. Art must be around here somewhere. I've... heh... never actually browsed this section."

[Chisaki Watanabe]

"Well unless you needed a specific book, that is reasonable that you would not. These tend to be rather dull." She said, eyeing through them to try to find the title of the one she needed.

"What about you Delacroix-san? What are you hoping to accomplish here at the University?"

[Chase Delacroix]

"I just want to be the best me I can. I haven't really thought much further than that."

[Chisaki Watanabe]

"Sometimes, that is best." She states, browsing book spines.

"Ah ha!" She exclaims, pulling it free. "Here we are. I think this is one of those books I cannot take, only copy. Where is the photocopy machine?" She asked politely.

[Chase Delacroix]

He turned in place, looking thoughtful. Stopping in a chosen direction, he said, "This way."

"What are your powers anyway?" he asked as walking resumed.
