The cafeteria workers had had a reprieve while Tereza was gone, but she returns with a vengeance directed at every bit of meat she can cram onto two plates. She settles at one of the tables, back to a wall, digging into her food almost before she's seated properly.

Sam has calmed down a little, but people in the cafeteria still seem to shy away from her instinctively as she approaches.

Tereza is apparently spared that sensation, though it's not immediately obvious why.

"I'm... glad you're safe, but we need to talk," she says as she pulls up a chair.

"Never a good phrase," Tereza sighs, moving back from her food reluctantly, "Do you want to yell at me and get that out of your system first?"

"I've gone over this in my head and... well, out of my head a few times. I think I got most of the yelling out."

"Just... don't do this to me again, aye?"

"You don't want me to make that promise, because you know I may have to break it," she says matter-of-factly. "And I don't like making promises that I know I may not be able to keep."

"Tereza, I was worried sick. I didn't know where you were, and then when I found out all I could think about is how we nearly died both times we went to Russia."

"And that was with a team."

"The first time, I wasn't a werewolf," Tereza says. "Look, I'm not going to tell you not to worry, but there are some things I have to chase. This school thing is one of them."

"Her damn chemicals must not have worn off yet," Tereza growls to herself. "Look, this thing... it's about me. It's something I have to do. You helped me by not being there to keep me from making hard decisions. When you're around, most of my thoughts, my decisions, revolve around you. My wolf would ignore a burning bus of nuns to protect you."

"I..." her eyes water as she seems to choke down something she wants to say.

"I can get better, Tereza. I can train more..."

"That's not..." Tereza sighs, "I am not a *good* person, Sam. Sometimes, I have to do bad things, even if I'm trying to do them for the right reason. You being there... you get how much you mean to me, right? How important you are to keeping me sane and my reasons righteous, right?"

Tereza rubs the bridge of her nose. "The last time we were on a mission together, I got to watch someone try to strangle you, but fine. It's not fair for me to care about you and not want you to be at risk while on a personal-to-me mission. You want me to apologize now?"

"It's not necessarily about being better, Sam. Laura got herself captured. Sometimes, when the shit rolls downhill, you're half-buried in cement at the bottom." She sighs, "But if it would make you feel better, then by all means, 'get better'."

Tereza looks at her and doesn't respond for a moment, picking her way through her plate and offering her some of the meat, "I may not need the grief, but you're exactly what I need right now."
