You Call This A Gate?

[Gemmalara]

A young blonde woman is walking back and forth, looking at the gate to the grounds and making notes on a clipboard in red ink. She's dressed in a long sleeve dark grey t-shirt that covers the palms of her hands like gloves and black jeans with distress marks. She frowns deeply and makes a few more notes before walking into the grounds and taking another good look at the gate and the surrounding area.

[Diego Zapata]

Bright eyes watched curiously from a tree.

"Lemme guess... Ye Olde Gate & Lawn Magazine?" Diego asked jokingly.

[Gemmalara]

A look that could curdle milk is shot in the direction of the tree. "Are you on the grounds crew of this establishment? Or perhaps the security staff?"

[Diego Zapata]

"No and no. Just a dude in a tree," he answered, "Why? There something wrong?"

[Gemmalara]

"This gate is totally unacceptable and these grounds... covered in *snow*! Totally unacceptable," she says, jotting down more notes on the clipboard, "Do you know where I could find someone responsible for these things?"

[Diego Zapata]

"I'm pretty new here, but I could probably find out for you. But, uhh, what's wrong with it?" he asked, hopping down with an easy grace.

[Gemmalara]

"Which part would you like me to start on? The gate is ugly... very ugly. And snow..." She kicks at some of it with the toe of a boot, "The Winter Court may like it everywhere, but she will find it quite distasteful, I am sure of that and then it will be *my* head. Do you want that?"

[Diego Zapata]

"The what now?" he asked, confused. He decided to give her a closer look as things were beginning to feel deeply off with the woman.

[Gemmalara]

She was on the verge of being inhumanly pretty, or possibly just pretty in ways that were by themselves inhuman. And sticking out of the mop of blond hair were pointed ears. She looks up from her clipboard long enough to catch him studying her, "The Winter Court." She jots another note on her clipboard that says 'Imbecile guarding the gate, doesn't even know about the Winter Court'.

[Diego Zapata]

"Well that's certainly not rude or anything," he commented at the note. Thinking harder about it, hadn't he heard that term somewhere?

[Gemmalara]

"I must document things appropriately, otherwise I may be in trouble as well," she says without a hint of remorse. "If you would prefer, I can just write down your name." She holds her pen, poised to write.

[Diego Zapata]

"Basil Rickaby," he answered.

[Gemmalara]

She jots down 'Basil Rickaby - Imbecile', studies him for a moment, crosses out 'Imbecile' and writes 'Some sort of cat person'. "Very well, Basil, would you take me to someone in charge? Please tell me you are not the person in charge."

[Diego Zapata]

"The sky is in charge of the snow," ya crazy pretty crazy lady "But I can definitely lead you to" security "someone who can help. Just follow me."

He began heading in the general direction of the security office.

[Gemmalara]

The lady follows, changing to a new page and making some additional notes as they walk.

[Diego Zapata]

Oh! It's a YA... no, a mythology thing!

"So... is this book research or something? I bet it is. Like Harry Potter but with fairies?"

[Byrna Cooper]

"Greetings, new people!"

A human female wearing a knee high dress with sturdy winter boots and a slightly oversized satchel skipped up.

"Wonderful day today, yes?"

[Gemmalara]

"No, it is a thoroughly unpleasant days," she says to Bear before looking back at Basil, "I am here to make sure everything's in order for my lady. It is my job."

[Diego Zapata]

"Oh! You're like a valet or something and some noblewoman is planning to visit?"

[Byrna Cooper]

"Oh my! A lady?"

Bear gave a little gasp of shock.

[Gemmalara]

"Yes," she says, very importantly, "And it's my job to see that everything will be the way she likes it."

[Byrna Cooper]

"Madam, I am certain your Lady will be most impressed and beguiled by the beauty and attractiveness of our humble abode. May I ask, pray tell, the name of your mistress?"

[Gemmalara]

"You may," she says. Then after a moment, as if realizing Bear probably expects more of an answer, "My mistress is the Lady of the Lake. Well, I suppose you could say Acting Lady of the Lake or Interim Lady of the Lake. The position is still being evaluated is, I believe, the mortal phrase."

[Diego Zapata]

Now Diego was completely lost on how to handle the situation. He would just take her to the welcome desk and let them decide if she was a loon. "Actually, on second thought we should probably go this way," he said, changing direction towards the admin building.

[Byrna Cooper]

"The Lady of the Lake! (Interim!) Graciously appearing here? How wonderful!"

Bear was doing her best to keep up the mood. Impromptu Ren Faires were so much fun!

[Gemmalara]

"I haven't the slightest clue why she wants to be in a place like this, but my job is not to question why. My job is simply to make sure that her needs are met in an appropriate manner," She responds, frowning as they change directions and head somewhere else.

[Byrna Cooper]

"When, may I ask, Is she due to grace us with her immaculate presence?"

[Gemmalara]

"I don't know," she says, "She doesn't tell me her schedule. She is attending to important business. *My* business is to make sure that when she does arrive, everything is ready. Such is the life of a servant."

[Diego Zapata]

"How can we welcome her properly if we don't know when she's coming?"

[Gemmalara]

"She is no-bil-ity. We are servants, we are expected to be ready at all times."

[Byrna Cooper]

"How concise a response! Indeed, please feel free to let us know what we may do to prepare for her arrival! Is directing you to the leaders of our school sufficient for now?"

Bear hopes her responses are properly poofy and grandiose.

[Diego Zapata]

"I'm not a servant," Diego muttered to himself.

[Gemmalara]

"Well, I will obviously need to talk to your leaders. I have a very long list to check off," she says, looking towards the building that they seem to be heading towards.

[Byrna Cooper]

"Then allow us to accompany you!" Bear relied, smiling.

She then went for it.

*Hug*

[Gemmalara]

The woman freezes, as if she's trying to process what is happening. When she speaks, she sounds politely outraged, "Unhand me, please."

[Byrna Cooper]

"Certainly!"

Bear releases the ever loving hug.

[Gemmalara]

The young woman smooths at her outfit, the gestures of someone more used to wearing a dress than a t-shirt and jeans. "Are all of you mortals this physically affectionate?"

[Diego Zapata]

"No. No, we are not," he answered, hiding his amusement.

[Byrna Cooper]

"I do try to set a good example, though!"

[Gemmalara]

She sniffs and tries to regain her composure, "I can't say that I approve, but then again you are mortals, so there's no accounting for your behaviour sometimes." As they approached the administration building, she continued to make the occasional note on her clipboard.
