"Probably," Sean said, "True werewolves were avatars of violence, so if violence calls to you it'd make sense a werewolf would call strongly. The question then is why, aye?"

"...I know some of the why. I guess I'm... neither here nor there, yet."

Sean looked at Sam quietly for a moment

"Oh?" Sean asked.

"...sometimes the bits of me add up less to 'Sam' and more to 'the Morrigan,'" she sighs.

"The Celtic goddesses," Sean said, "You certainly would be an appropriate avatar, but that's..."

Sean stifled what was probably going to be a treatise on something he'd read in a dusty tome in some near forgotten library.

"Why would you think you cannot be both?"

"No reason I can't, I guess."

"Just sometimes, it doesn't feel like I'm either."

"Why's that?" Sean asked.

"Well I guess it's just the times when neither is really hitting on all cylinders. It feels... awkward? Disjointed?"

"Well, I can relate to feeling disjointed or out of place. I've always felt that something is missing myself that everything is being seen through some kind of... filter," Sean said cha give good the subject, "Maybe there's some kind of middle ground where both parts come together? Or maybe it'd more like possession of a sort where you and the Morrigan are constage try vying with one another for control. Or alternatively I dont know what I'm talking about, eh?:

"Sometimes it feels like they're... both me in a way. Just... expressed differently?"

"Like you're made up of multiple facets? Perhaps three of them or four if you could be considered another part of the goddess?" Sean asked.

"No there's... definitely three. Just I think sometimes they can make Sam, and sometimes it's all war and death."

"Have the others... surfaced then? Or are they more just lurking around?" Sean asked.

She nods slowly.

"I've had times when the balance tips and I'm more one than the others."

"Ah, so you are something of the equilibrium between the three?" Sean asked.

"I guess? I mean, it seems that way. When I lose that balance, things get... exaggerated."

"Exaggerated in the way of violence becoming a symphony," Sean said, "Sounds like a fine line to need to walk between being a living myth and well, being you."

"I'm not... in it to hurt anyone who doesn't deserve it, believe me."

Sean stared at quietly at Sam for a moment.

"I do believe you," Sean said, "But if there's one thing every tome agrees on it's that gods and goddesses are not to be trifled with and to be cautious in dealings with them... Though those same books state that about other mages, the fae, spirits of various stripes, and well just about anybody who isn't you."

"...maybe I shouldn't have said anything."

"I mean, 'Sam the crazy girl' is someone most people can handle."

"Nobody really looks at you twice, aye? Since powers and mental instability seem to go together like fish and chips," Sean said opening his senses to the flow of magic around them. "But do you want to hide?"

Looking at the flow around Sam is like looking at a river swollen with rain. On the surface it's placid, even pleasant. Beneath that though, there's some frighteningly swift and strong ones.

"I don't. Truth told, I'm kind of sick of people telling me I'm crazy."

"Then be whoever you think you should be," Sean said as he stares at the waters. He looks at the flow trying to find the source wondering if it's swollen because it's dammed somehow.

The source of it seems to stretch back, deep into the Astral.

"Is... something wrong?" She cocks her head at Sean's staring.

Sean wasn't going to follow the current into the astral.

"Not wrong, no, just... taking in the flow of magic, around us," Sean said, "It pools and flows around you then back towards he astral plane."

Sean sighed.

"A poor description really, but it will have to suffice."

"I've been in the Astral before. It's a pretty strange place."

"I know how astral projection works... in theory at least, but I've only ever read about it," Sean said, "What was it like?"

"...overwhelming, really. I've only done it via the amplifier in the point."

"Wait, you can project yourself there using telepathy? That's amazing," Sean said, "Never even considered that would be a possibility."

"Well it's like... everyone's minds, aye? And dreams, and superstitions and shite."

"It makes sense when you think about it that way," Sean said, "I'd just never considered that a telepath could breach the veil between the dimensions. Probably a bit safer really since your abilities can likely manipulate the plane itself."

"I'm not really used to it yet. There's kind of a current there. It's hard not to get swept up."

"Really? A current," Sean said, "Are you going to use the amplifier to go there again?"

"I've only really used it in emergencies, when I needed to find someone who was missing."

"Oh," Sean said, "Suppose using an amplifier could be rather dangerous. Just was wondering because using the buddy system seems like a safer way to explore the astral, aye?"

"Well I guess I could get better at it eventually."

"Nah, we're both just going to stay the same novices forever," Sean smiled. "Forever in the shadow of the old time X-Men or sorcerers for me I guess. Not sure if I really get to count as an X-Men."
