I2DT - I'm Good Either Way

[Tereza Rozanov]

Tereza was sitting on the couch in the common room, half-watching whatever happened to be on TV. She was wearing baggy shorts and the edges of the bandaging around her right thigh peeked out around the edges. In her hands, she fidgeted with a long, vicious-looking metal needle.

[Vivienne Chinnoir]

"A well deserved rest I see."

Vivienne was smiling, but is quickly faded when she saw Tereza's injury. She had been busy with clean up and didn't realize the full extent of the situations in the other locations.

"How badly were you injured?"

[Tereza Rozanov]

"Business end of this thing," she said, holding up the needle. "Redcaps are vicious little bastards. Nasty gash in my thigh. It will heal. Just have to take it easy for a bit." Her accent was especially thick, but at least it was English.

[Vivienne Chinnoir]

"I am truly sorry. They are vicious indeed. Gnomes, dwraves, that one...female...brownie perhaps, at least at one time."

She sounded sad.

[Tereza Rozanov]

"We saved some people and captured them, so all in a day's work as they say," she said, spinning the needle around between her fingers. She gestured to the couch beside her with her free hand. "Have a seat if you want."

[Vivienne Chinnoir]

She nodded and took a seat. Now upon closer inspection, Vivienne's "glow" was noticeably diminished. She looked positively human, perhaps even slightly "rumpled" and sleep deprived.

"I am glad she missed."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"I am too. Are you doing alright?"

[Vivienne Chinnoir]

"Shaken, no physical harm. The one here in the dorms, spoke of my mother. It suggested that I have been attributing human like characteristics to her that I should not."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"Were you?" She looked at her curiously.

[Vivienne Chinnoir]

"I do not know. If I look too closely, perhaps, but should I? One's motives can be questioned too closely, too close and one sees only darkness."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"And there is a certain amount of finding what you are looking for, whatever that may be," she said, considering for a moment before leaning her head on Vivienne's shoulder.

[Vivienne Chinnoir]

Vivienne sat silently in thought.

"For now her motives are her own. If they should come to light and prove to be dangerous to myself or this place, then I shall act. I am a creature of free will as well as fey, I will be no one elses willing pawn."

She then sighed and rest her head on Tereza's.

"So, the Redcaps? You have been doing your reasearch."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"I decided I should understand at least the legends surrounding the fey, especially if I'm dating a fey princess."

[Vivienne Chinnoir]

"I would offer to return the curtesy and learn more about your previous home, but I shall wait for you to tell me when and what you wish. You are not bond as I am."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"The place itself is fine I suppose, despite its troubles and prejudices. I don't intend to go back though. There are certain service expectations of mutants and you know me. I'd rather do my own thing."

[Vivienne Chinnoir]

"Yes, that is one of your more endearing traits."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"And if you want to be picky, I've lived in several other places since I left there. This is the first place that is actually beginning to feel like home."

[Vivienne Chinnoir]

"Indeed, this strange place has a surprising appeal."

She chuckled softly.

[Tereza Rozanov]

"Still, it probably wouldn't hurt to learn to speak Russian. I seem to lapse back into speaking it sometimes."

[Vivienne Chinnoir]

"In connection with stress?"

She asked while filming away the suggestion for a later time.

[Tereza Rozanov]

"Or pain. I honestly don't know. They were fresh out of ideas in the infirmary."

[Vivienne Chinnoir]

"I believe it has root in the fact that English is not our first language. In times of high stress I have found I lapse back into what is familiar and comfortable."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"But you don't lose the ability to speak English, do you?"

[Vivienne Chinnoir]

She seemed to take a moment.

"Not completely, at least to my understanding. Once I have calmed down and remember where I am, it comes back instantly. It is not the same for you?"

[Tereza Rozanov]

"I understand it, but I can't make myself speak it. It is... unsettling."

[Vivienne Chinnoir]

"That is most unfortunate and perplexing. I will study Russian."

[Tereza Rozanov]

"First phrase to learn." She cleared her throat and smiled, "Вы прекрасны." She lifted her head and gave Vivienne a kiss on the cheek and then stood up, "When you figure out what that means, come find me."
