The Roof: You Are a Poor Scientist, Dr. West!

[Robert West]

"Why not?" Nina asks.

[Nailah Weaver]

"It's not really something I can do. I'm not a shapeshifter." she adds after remembering that some people around here actually can grow wings on demand.

[Robert West]

"So, you never change shape?" Nina asks. She sounds impressed. "That's incredible. Most people change a lot."

[Nailah Weaver]

"Well I grew them once, I just didn't have any say in it?" This conversation was beginning to be confusing.

[Robert West]

"Well, you should be proud of them. You did an excellent job," Nina says. "...Can I taste them?"

[Nailah Weaver]

"What? No! You can't taste my wings!"

[Robert West]

"Why not?" Nina asks, with all the innocent confusion of soemone that does not understand personal boundaries.

[Nailah Weaver]

"Because that's weird. I just met you. Not that I let people I know taste my wings either!" she quickly adds because this girl seems to be seriously loopy.

[Robert West]

"It's not weird," Nina says. "I've never tasted human wings before. I'm curious. I mean, would it be less weird if I asked to touch them? It's the same thing."

[Nailah Weaver]

"What? No, it's not!"

[Perdita]

While Nina and Nailah are arguing Heather might sense a familiar data-stream respond to her signal. Perdita is broadcasting part of her signal into the teleportation array in an attempt to talk to Heather.

>> Somebody else has taken it over but I think I can lock them out.
>> There's an external unit being controlled by my old system, but I found an inactive one to utilize.
>> Are you two okay? I was worried when you didn't arrive at the intended location.

[Robert West]

"Why not?" Nina asks.

[Nailah Weaver]

"Because I don't wanna lose my wings! Are you stupid?"

[Nash Riley]

A man's head sticks up slightly from the roof access hatch. "What's going on up here?"

[Heather West]

"Perdita!" Heather says. "We're fine. Do you know where you are? We can come help you."

[Perdita]

>> I'm connected remotely, but I don't have the same processing power as the systems here.
>> I'm getting by because I know how Dr. Minamida laid everything out.
>> I don't know any access codes, but I know how they tend to be designed and that let's me bruteforce most systems.
>> Something is fighting me for control though, I'll lose out eventually unless I destroy the system the defense program is running on.

[Nailah Weaver]

"Oh hey Nash. Rob just accidentally teleported some people in. He's off to find the headmistress right now."

[Nash Riley]

"So no imps or faerie whatevers?" He said as he came up on to the roof. He is holding a wrench but it is relaxed and at his side.

[Nailah Weaver]

"Nah, just Heather and Nina here. They seem... okay?" she says a bit hesitantly. Heather was kind of angry with Rob, but that was normal with siblings, right? And Nina just seemed a little wonky in the head but not dangerously so. Probably.

[Heather West]

"I'll try to help," Heather says. She reaches out for the defense system with her abilities, trying to reach it.

"Is that Perdita?" Nina asks. "Tell her I said 'hi'!"

[Perdita]

The system is well outside of Heather's reach from here. She may not even be able to sense it at all, since it's all the way across campus and below ground.

>> I can't locate the system, only a mobile drone being operated by it.
>> It's to the east of you, underground.

[Nash Riley]

"Okay?" He said as he looked them over.

Heather would be able to sense a computer system on Nash. It wasn't conventional by any means but not totally strange either.

[Nailah Weaver]

"Who's Perdita?"

[Heather West]

"None of your business," Heather says, not trusting her brother's friends as far as she could throw them. "Come on, Nina. We need to go."

Heather grabs Nina by the hand and starts heading for the door.

[Nash Riley]

Not sure how to respond, he just looks over to Nailah confusedly.

[Nailah Weaver]

"Beats me, but I think we should keep an eye on them."

[Nash Riley]

"Yeah, that's probably a good idea."
