"Maybe you swiped the wrong edge?"

She waits patiently at the door, crossing her arms under her decolletage.

Basil fumbled with the card to try again, but it still made that very unhappy sound to indicate it wasn't going to let him in.

"Or maybe her room mate got sick of my shit." He joked feebly, trying not to stare at Janice and somewhat failing.

Whatever sight Nailah might have been expecting on the other side of the door, it was most definitely not this and she wishes she hadn't promised not to 'peek' as she cracks the door and immediately slamming it again.

A good two seconds later the door opens again. Nailah for her parts is wearing a relatively simple jacket over some black capri pants. "Why's the how and the what?" she says eloquently, still processing things.

Basil finally realized his problem after noticing the clip attached to the card he had, and quickly switched them around.

Once the door finally allowed him access he all but body checked the door open, barrelling into Colette's room and shutting the door.

"No clue what's wrong with him," Janice says, looking sidelong at the door slamming.

She waves and heads on down the stairs.

Janice is still practicing Nailah-distracting walks and poses as she emerges out in front of the dorms.

Meanwhile Nailah has hurried up to the roof. This whole date thing had her nervous even before Janice showed up wearing... that. But she has a plan to put herself on some familiar footing to start things off on the right note. She rolls her shoulders a couple times and then takes off sprinting across the roof. Leaping over the edge into the open air she spreads her wings, catching the air and building up speed as she leans to the side and banks around the corner. Closing her eyes for just a moment she breaks the promise she made just a tiny little bit. Just enough to make sure she gets this right. Gliding quietly out from behind the dorms she flies around to the front, beating her wings once to gain a little bit of extra height for the subsequent dive down towards her waiting date's back.

At the last moment her wings break her dive a tiny bit, just enough to give her the time she needs to wrap her arms around Janice's wait from behind and swoop her off her feet as wings beat around them to make up for the added weight. "Gotcha!" Nailah grins as the ground falls away underneath them; ten, fifteen, twenty feet until they're above the trees surrounding the campus.

"Holy shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiite!" Janice yells out as she's literally swept off her feet.

Her alarm finally dissolves into laughter as they get higher up.

"I almost thought you were going to ditch me!"

"What? No, that'd be so rude!" she says, a little out of breath from continuing to gain height. It's a little stomach-lurching, a sudden upwards pull, followed by a tiny little drop before the next beat of the wings. Slowly the university becomes just an arrangement of buildings among the trees and in the distance Janice can see Maldon and the first couple of lights turning on. But a perhaps more impressive sight comes into view as Nailah turns them in the air a little and goes into more of a glide. Far off at the horizon the sun is setting and casting red and purple patterns across the clouds.

"So just to be clear here, we're going to dinner rather than you dropping me off at the precinct?" She smirks up at Nailah.

Nailah is very pointedly looking forward, only briefly glancing down when Janice talks and wobbling a little in her flight.

"I don't think your outfit actually breaks the law, so you get a pass for now, despite being a little... devious."

"Yeah... But his power is as fickle as it is powerful and your whole thing is making things go wrong! Not... that I'd want you to get involved in that mess or anything. I'm just saying. It's like the paper to his rock..." she trails off awkwardly.

"Exactly! You're too down on your power." she chuckles. "Are you ready for a dive?" she asks as way of a warning before her wings stop flapping and tuck in slightly, the two of them dropping down sharply that sends a lurch through Janice's stomach before their acceleration evens out a bit into more forward momentum, wind whipping at their hair.

Janice goes into a surprised shriek that quickly dissolves into giddy laughter.

She has longer hair than Nailah, and unfortunately for them both is not aware at all of where it is blowing at the moment.

Nailah banks hard to the left, leaves and branches slapping at them as they narrowly avoid the tree.

"Looking good... cat! Cat!"

Janice tenses as the prosperous black feline in question looks properly perplexed, ultimately hissing and darting off.

"Okay, whew. We're clear."

"Whoah, hey there..." Janice says as she tries to steady Nailah by clasping the sphinx's arms to her.

Which would be a sweet gesture if Janice hadn't completely misjudged Nailah's weight, so down she goes.

Nailah valiantly tries to break their fall by flapping her wings, but a startled flailing is far from the the way the feather appendages are meant to work and all it does is make them look even more ridiculous as they tumble to the ground.

"Ow..." Nailah groans before realizing she's lieing on top of Janice in the middle of the sidewalk and people are staring. Scrambling backwards on her butt, tail trailing on the ground, she wraps her wings around herself to hide the embarrassment. It's easy to look and feel cool when using a walkthrough guide to reality. Going without is a much different story.
