Built on the Braddock Estate not far from the Manor, these were constructed for the university's benefit to help house the student population.

"I can protect you from all the others. I got internal vibranium chief.

As long as you're within ten feet of me." She laughed.

Vic nodded in agreement. "That's a pretty impressive range."

"Not really. It's not even two normal sized people and it doesn't project, just encapsulate.

That's why I gotta go with you if yer on the teams. Can't just letcha get smashed. And I gotta stay pretty close to prevent that from happening."

"Well yea they'll benefit from it too I guess." Emilie replied, not seemingly concerned about the other kids.

Vic waved the straw of his juice box at Emilie's face as though he were waggling his finger. "Teams are teams, Em. If you can't give everyone the same priority that you'd give me, then it ain't the place for you. They gotta be able to depend on you having their back, even if it means I take a few knocks."

"I don't die if they die." Emilie stated bluntly, not much appreciating the admonishing. "I don't disappear when they ship off to Belgium to handle a hostage situation."

"Wait, so if I leave the country and you stay here, you'll disappear?"

"It's like the Cardinal once said big guy;

Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God: Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me. Victor looked at her while drinking his juice box.

"So does that mean I can go to the corner store or what? I kinda want a rough estimate here Em, so that I can do this right."

Aaaaaannnnd the patience was gone.

"Jesus! Yes you can go to the corner store! I've been to Maldon like, three or four times without your ass in tow now, I just don't report every goddamn thing I do to you! You've even left the province and I was still there when you got back!

But sometimes I'm not okay?! And that's why I try to keep a close tab on what you're doing! And I don't know why it happens and I don't have an estimate for you because I can't exactly gauge how far you were everytime it happened! Sometimes you intentionally abandoned me! How am I supposed to know how far away you were then?!"

Victor gave her a look like a frightened dog might.

"I'm... not asking you to tell me where you're going all the time."

The boy got up from his seat as he spoke, clearing his plate and disposing of the rubbish.

"But if you disappear if I stray too far I wanna have a rough idea of how far that is so I can plan accordin'ly. I don't wanna make you poof, accidentally or on purpose. But at the same time I don't want to force you to follow me around wherever I go, makin' you wait in the lobby while I work in an office or somethin' 'cause we can't get you a job in the same building. If yer depending on me then I gotta make decisions with that in mind, and sometimes vague mysticisms and proverbs ain't enough for me to work with. If me takin' the train to London or joinin' the teams is gonna put you at risk, then maybe I shouldn't be doin' either.

"Thanks for makin' me lunch. I've gotta do some training in the Danger Room... or whatever they call it here, I'll be there if you need me."

Emilie sighed, and crossed her arms over her chest, scowling.

"I wish you'd stop treating me like I have all the answers. I don't. If I did, I wouldn't be here. I'm sorry my 'vague mysticisms and proverbs' don't work for you since unfortunately that is all I have." Since Victor had cleaned up after himself, Emilie left so that he could go onto the Danger Room.
