"To a certain extent, that's probably true. While I control the weather, I'm not creating it out of nothing. Most of what I do relies on things that are already there and if those variables change suddenly enough and drastically enough, the consequences could be... problematic."

Miriam nods. "It doesn't really work for me. There's a couple programs, but they're... bad. Like a blurry photograph from 50 years ago when you're used to crisp high-definition. Or trying to learn surgery on a piece of steak. It's pointless."

Wanda takes the offered arm, "Thank you for the meal. It was good." As they leave the restaurant, the clouds were beginning to scud away, leaving the nearby sky mostly clear.

"A good indicator usually, yes," Wanda says, looking out over the water. "I don't see eye-to-eye with a lot of people. I even been politely told my perspective is 'unique'. If memory serves, that conversation eventually ended in me punching the guy who said it."

"They talk about learning how to maintain barriers, but what they don't tell you is that it's impossible to tell where to erect them. It's like the sea washing over the beach of your sense of self. Where does the sand stop and turn into ocean floor?"
