So whatever this device is, it's aggregating an astounding amount of information. At least she assumed it was the device as this wasn't typical behavior for her power. She clears a spot on her desk and sets the Apple II down on the desk and then pulls out the box again, looking it over again very carefully. She reaches out with her powers, probing for a command interface before hopefully sending:

That green dot in the corner of her vision flashed again, just for a moment, and then there was a voice, inside her head.

Natalie makes a thoughtful noise, reaching for her phone and doing a quick search for Stark-Fujikawa and Ulysses Engine. While she does, she sends the device another query:
Code: Select all
Identify compatible devices?

No result for Stark-Fujikawa, though there were plenty of hits for Stark Industries, of course. There were several hits for Fujikawa, being a somewhat common Japanese last name and a significant river. Fujikawa Industries was the most likely reference here, a fairly nondescript Japanese tech and research firm.

Ulysses Engine comes up empty, except for some likely unrelated references in webcomics.

The list of compatible devices was quite extensive. Although at the moment it only appeared to be "paired" with herself and her cell phone, it was twigging most of the computers Natalie had in her room, as well as quite a few of the computers, phones, tablets and other electronic bric-a-brac in the adjacent dorm rooms. Most things with access to Wi-Fi, it looked like.

Natalie rotates the box in her hands, looking for seams or ways to open it. She mentally probes the device's programming again.

There is a bit of a differently-colored tiny panel on one side -- glass, rather than the black matte plastic that made up the majority of the box. While the panel was roughly USB-port or firewire port sized, it didn't actually seem to be able to accept anything plugged in. At least, it wasn't like anything Natalie had seen before.

The machine listed only one other previously connected device -- a cellphone, by the looks of it.

She began poking with her finger at the panel, trying to see if maybe there was a flap or door covering the port.

There didn't seem to be any intended way to open the 'port' -- no hinges or anything. There was the faint outline of some circuits behind the glass she could squint at and see behind the glass, but it didn't seem to be intended to open.

She set the box on her desk and looked at it, then looked around her room. She eyed an older iPhone on her desk, seeing what the device might have to say about it.

Natalie stares at the box for a long moment. "What operating system responds legit with oonnneeoo2?" She asks out loud.

Was it a clue? The operating system seemed to be working fine now, but that was an odd touch, wasn't it?

Perhaps more relevant to the particular software's quirks was the old phone it had been synched with earlier. Natalie could see that the device was syncing fine with her older iPhone, and that it's details were being recorded by the machine. That made it the third phone on the list -- after this one, the one she had with her down in the common room, and the first one, presumably one it had been tested with.

Only the last four digits were available, as the rest were blocked out for privacy reasons, but it wouldn't take long for Natalie to search (or, uh, just remember) that they matched the last four of Will's cell phone mode.

She sent a command to the device to dial Will's number, curious to see what it would do.

So you're the one that put the presents under the tree.

What can I say, I'm a suspicious guy.  Besides, spreading cheer is about the act itself, not the admiration.  If you're trying to get everyone seeing you do it, you're doing it for the wrong reasons!

And I'm pretty sure the gifts under the tree were from Santa.  You can ask Shari about that, she can confirm.
