"Nika!" Katarina called, knocking on her door. "Niiiiiiika!"

Nika, wearing an open jacket over a tank-top comes walking down the hallway from her morning work-out.

"Oh, your majesty. You're up already." she says as she hastens her steps a little to close the distance between them.

"Ah, Nika! There you are.

...Could you not call me that out in public?" she asked, after a moment's pause.

"Someone forgot to place toothpaste in my toiletries basket, so when I ended up in the showers, I was without it.

Now, I don't want to point any fingers or assign excess amounts of blame, but I was forced to take toothpaste from one of the other students, and now I am in their debt.

So, if you would kindly order some toothpaste from the toothpaste mart, we could put this entire incident behind us."

"The... toothpaste mart. Right. I'll get right on that. I will point out though that the person who forgot to correctly assemble your toiletries bag is you, seeing how there's nobody else around to do it for you."

"While bad teeth can certainly pose a risk it'd be hard to argue it's something that falls under the duties of a bodyguard. But if you are ever attacked by super-sized caries bacteria I will definitely protect you from them."

"Well, you're the only one here, so you may have to expand the definition of your duties a little wider, in the absence of other help," Katarina nodded definitively.

Nika mentally sighs. "A supermarket, for starters." she says, then after a brief pause adds, "Would you like me to accompany you to one in town?"

"That would probably be for the best," she signed, awkwardly shifting her toiletry basket from one hand to the other. "Let me just drop this stuff off."

"Just ten minutes for a shower? There's no need to rush on my behalf..." Katarina laughed.

"Ten minutes is plenty of time." she says, slightly confused. "It's how long we had at the academy."

"I wouldn't want to keep you waiting." she says and hurries off before her highness can say anything else. She'd rather not be ordered to be disrespectful.

Ten minutes later on the dot Nika sharply knocks on Katarina's door, hair still vaguely wet.

"Oh, Nika," Katarina sighed when she saw the state of her hair. "This wasn't that time-critical."

Nika just looks befuddled for a moment, then shrugs slightly.

"I said ten minutes. I wasn't going to keep you waiting."

Katarina pointed to her hair, and then to Nika's hair, and back and forth.

"I'm not going to die if I had to wait another five minutes."

"What about my hair?" she asks, running her fingers through it, only really exacerbating the issue. "I'll be wearing my cap anyway, if you're concerned about me catching a cold."

Nika can't help but snort out a half-suppressed laugh. "Right. Well, let's get going before all the good ones are gone."

A little while later the two of them make their way into town and Nika heads right for the very mundane and un-artisanal entrance to a small super-market.
