Xaviers!

Tosh stood at Steph's door and knocked.

A large furry Steph answered the door. A broad doggy smile spread across her feral face and her tail wagged furiously, much to her chagrin.

“Hi Tosh,”

He pulled a package of chocolate HobNobs cookies biscuits out from behind his back and smiled up at her.

"I can't bake, but let's try this again."

Steph practically tackled him in a hug and nuzzled gently into his cheek before stepping back bashfully. “Come in...that’s so swee...” she stopped as she looked at the cookies, “....can I eat chocolate like this?”

Tosh started to answer but stopped to think first.

"Shit. I didn't think of that. I'll just... be right back."

He left and returned with non-chocolate ones.

"Take two?" he asked with a crooked smile.

Steph was left standing there a bit confused as he left but once he returned her tail resumed wagging fast enough to create a strong breeze.

“You are such a sweetheart,” she beamed.

“Come in. Let’s split these and talk,”

He went inside without further delay.

"The other day I was... afraid of moving on too fast. My friends convinced me I was being dumb. Like, really dumb."

Stephanie nodded, “You weren’t being dumb. No one asks a girl out the same day they get dumped. It’s fine...and if I pushed, I’m sorry,” she continued, almost rambling in her speech. “But...I...do have feelings for you, and even if we can’t maybe...act on them the way we’d normally want to because...well...this,” she gestured at herself, finally catching her breath.

"I like you a lot too Steph, more than I realized. So it would be unfair to the both of us if we didn't explore the idea of... well, an 'us'."

Steph had taken a seat on the edge of her bed, and her tail thumped happily against the sheets as he finished his thought. “I would agree,” she replied a bit bashfully.

"I suppose this is where I ask you out," he smiled. "It can just be the XUB if you're worried about being wolfy in public."

"I mean, I'd worry about accidental shifting too in your position."

“And this is where I say ‘absolutely,’” she beamed. “We can play the where by ear...maybe since I’m getting what I want I can convince her to calm down enough to let me stay human for a night.”

"So she's your id, your desires, basically? Bruce is like that for me sometimes. The new guy too for tha..."

He chuckled. "Yeah... I kinda... heh... developed a new wacky super-critter. So... heads up on the crazy."

"I...think that seems to be how it's working. I need to be a bit better about doing some of the recommended reading my therapist gives me. But reading that sort of thing is the exact opposite of what she... I? want to do."

"You turn into something other than Bruce now?"

"An oversized ferret that is, apparently, my inner fiery-tempered cowboy. My best theory is my time with people gets imprinted on me in some way and eventually, a persona is born. But Haley's power accident... uhh... well it kinda happened in my mindscape... anyway it accelerated the process or something and my brain filled in the rest with Western clichés because I'm a huge dork."

"I'm not sure what exactly he can do yet beyond something with water."

“So spend enough time with me and you might develop a werewolf that likes Jane Austen and gymnastics?” she teased.

"Probably something weirder, but actually yeah. I'm assuming the only reason Trev hasn't spawned one is that we're too alike."

“You two are peas in a pod,” she teased. “I had a huge crush on him in high school, but was dating a loser instead...and then other things happened...I guess I have a type though,”

"We are nothing if not suave and debonair ladies' men," he joked.

Was it rude to laugh? Because she was laughing a lot.

She squeezed Tosh’s hand, a wide smile on her canine face “I’m sorry. That was mean. You are both great guys. And maybe I’ll make it up to you,” she winked.

"You'd better," he smirked.

Of all the times for her to be a wolf, eh kid?

“How can I make it up to you then? I don’t really think you want your first kiss with a new girl to be...well. With a wolf.”

"Do you really have that top hat?" he grinned.

Stephanie sighed and looked up at the corner of the shelf above her desk, rising and retrieving a hat. “Don’t ask why I have this, but...”

She placed the hat on her head by flipping it through the air impressively gracefully and doing a quick little soft shoe...paw? routine. She ended with a flourish and looked around the room momentarily, eyes locking on her alarm clock.

“I don’t think Em will be back from class and her shift for a while yet...” she remarked casually. “Maybe...you could see if you can help me shift?”

After some deserved applause, he said "Hugging me seems to work."

"Not a bad place to start," she nodded in agreement, stepping close and pulling him up to his feet before wrapping her arms around him.

Tosh might at that point become aware that she wasn't wearing any of her shifting garments.

"So. Hugging. What now?"

"You... uhh..."

Aaand she's naked.
A good thing this time Bro.

"... think about... how much you want a piece of this hot bod?" he smirked.

Steph let out a snort of laughter, "While true...we should work on your delivery for lines like that."

She kept hugging him, swaying slightly as if they were dancing and steadied her breathing. Focus on the end goal...think about wanting to be able to give him a first kiss he won't forget...

After a moment, she felt the warmth wash over her body, and then the pain. She gasped, and squeezed Tosh as her bones cracked and popped, rearranging themselves.

She took a moment to catch her breath before opening her eyes which remained a vibrant, feral yellow to look slightly up at him rather than down since she'd lost so much height. "So...having a goal in mind helps..." she practically purred before leaning in and planting a hungry kiss on his lips.

Tosh leaned into the kiss and after a moment planted his arms around her waist in a passionate embrace. Somewhere in the world, at that exact moment, fireworks went off.

She broke the kiss and whispered into his ear, "So the bigger problem is that I'm naked but you still have all your clothes on..."

Steph shoved him backwards onto the bed, a devilish smile revealing still-somewhat sharp teeth as the lights faded to black.

Later...

Tosh laid next to Steph in the bed bearing a rather contented expression.

"... you are amazing..."

Steph looked back at him, eyes doe brown and cheeks flush with either remnants of exertion or bashfulness, a sheepish smile on her face. “I...don’t normally do that sort of thing on a first date but...I’m feeling a little more adventurous lately thanks to her...and just doing what I want without thinking a whole lot.”

She turned on her side to face him, keeping the sheets tucked up high near her collarbone, “But...you, sir, are the amazing one,” she giggled.

"Well, I am three in one now," he answered, too shyly to be truly considered boasting.

Steph snuggled up next to him, laying her arm across his chest under the sheet and kissing him on the cheek, “As much as I’d like to stay here, just like this...Em might be getting home soon and I’m also starving. So maybe we get dressed and go eat half the cafeteria?”

"If we have to," he sighed overdramatically. "Sounds like we've pushed our luck anyway."

Steph started to climb over Tosh, but stopped midway to plant a soft kiss on his lips, “I think I’d be more bothered by it than Em...she’s pretty laid back...but...” she trailed off, her eyes yellowing, “well...on second thought...we might still have some time...”

She leaned in and kissed him more hungrily as she pulled the covers back over them.
