Xaviers!

Wanda shuts the door behind her and sits at her desk, rifling through it to find some paper and a pen. She starts writing something, occasionally rubbing her neck as she puzzles over some piece she's writing.

Isolde can be felt well before she opens the door, frowning.

"...who hurt you?"

"Sam... but not Sam. It's hard to explain," she says without looking up from where she appeared to be writing some sort of letter.

"So what am I supposed to check before I kill her?"

"You're not going to kill her," Wanda says, signing the letter and folding it up, sealing it with some tape. "She appears to have gone full Morrigan and I don't think we can deal with her."

"Well they all go crazy eventually, but this does seem... sooner than usual."

"So we're going to do what we can: Warn those close to her," she says, writing Tereza's name on the of the folded paper, "Then we're going to put my power beyond her reach. I angered her and she was on the verge of claiming me. I'm not sure why she didn't. But I'm not going to give her another chance."

"What, you want to run?"

Wanda turns and fixes her with a glare, "No. I don't. But I'm not going to put my guardian, a woman I care about but who should be dead ten times over, in her all-consuming path to defend me. And if she takes me, there's no telling what she might do with that connection. It's too much of a risk. We're not leaving permanently, just... going into hiding for a bit. My grandmother gave me use of a cabin in Sweden where we can stay out of the Morrigan's way."

"I think you've some odd notions on just what my duty is, but I suppose I'm not the one who has to like it."

"There's usual risks and there's foolhardy risks and putting you in front of the Morrigan is foolhardy."

"There's going to come a time when just avoiding something isn't going to be an option."

"I agree. Would you rather I fed you to a death goddess?" Apparently Isolde's frustration was beginning to feed into Wanda's.

"I've faced worse before I even met you."

Wanda sighs and pinches the bridge of her nose. "Fine. I suppose we might as well stay so you can prove you're the bravest." She turns back to her desk, putting her back to Isolde, and that nebulous connection between them dulls somewhat.

"It's not... it's not about that," she huffs, gritting her teeth.

"Save it," Wanda says coldly. She pulls out her journal and begins flipping through the pages, studying her notes.

"She hurt you, and it's a cold comfort that I won't be able to make her pay for that."

"People hurt me all the time in one way or another," she says with a half-hearted shrug. “Just go.”

Isolde gives a resigned sigh.

"...let me know when we'll be leaving."

Wanda makes a note in one margin, frowning. “I thought you’d decided we shouldn’t leave.”

"I'm not the one that decides," she says looking over her shoulder as she makes for the door.

"I thought you knew that by now."

Wanda’s only response is a growl of frustration that seems to follow Isolde out the door.

After a bit Nailah carefully pokes her head through the door after having seen Isolde storm off.

"She looked... more intimidating than usual."

"We had a... disagreement about something," Wanda says, glancing up from her journal.

"Oof. Sorry about that. You okay?" she asks, stepping inside and slinging the workout bag off her shoulder and onto her bed.

Wanda contemplates giving into the pleasantries of 'yes, I'm fine' for a moment, but she's disgruntled enough that that option gets discarded. "No, but I'll get it figured out. She just reminded me of something I don't like to dwell on."

"I can find somewhere else to be if you need some room..."

Wanda shakes her head, "No, it's okay. It's your room too. I wouldn't want to monopolize it. I see you're working out again." She gestures at the bag.

"Yeah. Gotta stay on top of things, right? Plus it feels like I've been slacking, which is good cause it means I kinda sorta remember the time I spend recovering." she says, tapping her temple.

"That seems like a good development," Wanda says with a nod, "Still not remembering specifics though?"

"Bits and pieces sometimes. I get a lot of deja vu around the mansion and when I flip through my journal. And any time I wrote down something I saw about the future I have a hard time with stuff from around then. I think using my power is making it worse."

“Hard time remembering or just harsher deja vu?”

"The first one. It's like my brain can only handle one or the other. Past or future." she says, holding up her cupped hands and moving one up as she move the other down back and forth a couple times.

“That’s certainly a conundrum.”
