Reflections

It had been a long first day at Xavier University, and Franklin Shinnick had found his way to the roof for some privacy. Privacy may have been what he came up here for, but he instead found beauty. This height allowed him to see the power grid of the compound's buildings, the lines that brought electricity to them, and more interestingly, the faintest hints of the Earth's electromagnetic field. This all combined to make a living painting that only he could see. A painting, that meant nothing but pain to him a day ago. Sam had changed that.

A girl he had just met had managed to open his eyes to the world around him. While this would be pleasing to most people, this troubled Franklin. She had brought questions into his certain world. He knew that he was purely the instrument of Brimstone's destruction, but she had told him he could be more. He was certain he was born with a curse, instead she insisted that it made him unique. He was convinced he was handicapped, she insisted that he could see art where no one could.

His whole mission was in jeopardy. He had to destroy Brimstone for all the suffering he caused, but he couldn't get Sam's words out of his head. Was he more than cursed? Could he be more than a spawn of evil?
