Mythical and Methodical

Victor didn't haver too far to move his stuff, just the next room over, so he hadn't bothered to back it up too much. It was faster to just grab armloads of clothes and such and just put it away bit by bit than it was to pack everything into boxes and bags and then unpack it all again. So when Leo heard kicking at the door, the towering student would see the much smaller figure mostly obscured by an armload of folded shirts and pants, with suit jackets laid over them.

Leo unfolded himself from his rather feline position lounging on his bed

"You must be the new roommate. Gimme a sec," he said as he got to his feet and made his way to the door. Vic might perceive Leo's giant shadow as the big mutant pulled the door open.

Victor stretched his neck, but really to get a look at Leo all he really needed to do was tilt his head back. Okay, this was different.

"Oh, hello. I'm Victor."

"Leo," he replied, stepping out of the way.

"Need a hand?"

Victor stepped inside and plopped the clothes on the unoccupied bed before he started to put them away.

"I think I'm good, thanks. You don't mind if I just keep the door open a little bit so I can duck in and out, do you?"

"Yeah, go ahead."

After watching for a moment, he asked, "So, uhh, you been here long?"

The clothes started to turn to personal effects like a laptop and stacks of books, the latter seemed like he managed to carry a stack far bigger than it appeared in his arms. And an eclectic taste in reading material.

"Since the fall. You're new-ish, right? I'm pretty sure I'd've noticed you in the cafeteria or something before now." He seemed strangely accepting of all this.

"Pretty much just got here," he answered.

He raised a brow at the seemingly impossible amount Vic was unpacking and asked, "Am I imaginin' things or are you putting away more than you carried in?"

"Well welcome aboard! We def gotta see about getting you a bigger bed though. Even if they got a frame from Ikea or something I could put it together for them."

Victor smirked a bit, the briefcase-sized footlocker making a heavier clatter than it should when he set it down and slid it under the bed, it definitely looked bigger than that when he slid it under the bed. "Eh, just a bit of sleight of hand. What's the point of having powers if you can't use 'em to make your life a little easier? My thing's shrinky-dink bullshittery." Leo's seemed... pretty obvious, to be honest.

"Oh. Cool. My thing, other than the obvious, is this," he said, sprouting some quills from his face and hands.

"And, yeah, a bigger bed would rock. I have to curl up like a friggin' ginourmous housecat to fit in this one."

"Yeah, I'm thinkin' you'll be called up for a team slot before I do." Victor joked. "Do they hurt? I mean, for you to make 'em, I'm gonna assume they hurt other people."

He began to spread out his bedsheets and make up the mattress of his own bed. "Well I can ask the headmaster if there's some kinda special requisitions form or something. Surely they've got a bigger bed frame somewhere around this place - I don't mind losing a bit of floorspace, I don't take up much room."

Victor kept up the conversation during his back and forths, the last thing to go up was a cork board with various scraps of papers on it, from bits of newspaper clippings to pictures to wikipedia printouts, with notes scribbled on them.

"I wish I had thought of the bed situation when I spoke to the headmaster. And yeah, I'm working on joinin' the teams officially. I have some power issues to work out first."

"Oh. And no, it doesn't hurt," he added, quills receding without a trace.

"Oh, well that's good. I'd hate for you to, like, hurt yourself just to show me your schtick." Phrasing.

"That's what she said," he said with a smirk.

"Anyway, is it just objects or can you shrink anything?"

Victor rolled his eyes as he'd left himself open for that.

"Object, people, myself... but I gotta touch 'em. And after that they gotta stay really close, otherwise they pop back. It has it's uses."

"Maybe. Or maybe they just figure that I take up the least amount of room of any other potential roommate."

"Probably a good thing. I still don't always know my own strength or even size. I... well I got like this pretty recently."

"Puberty can be a real jerk sometimes." Victor quipped, ignorant of Leo's circumstances.

"Yeah, it really can," he agreed. He didn't have to tell everyone his sob story.

"So, uh... what kind of stuff you into?"

"Eh, the usual stuff. Gymnastics, history, a bit of theatre. I'm a bit all over the place.

"What about you? I suppose everyone automatically assumes you're into sports."

He barked a laugh. "Maybe now. In my last school, I was more the guy on the sidelines rolling his eyes at the popular kids."

"I always enjoyed shop and art classes the most, but I don't not like history."

"Carpentry shop, or metal shop, or both? I actually haven't spent much time in the art department here so I dunno what they've got, maybe they've got a kiln or something, that'd be neat."

"Metal, but woodworkin' is fun too. And a kiln would be interestin'... if I thought these hands could work clay. Even if they could, I'd just get fur in it."

He sounded a little sad about that.

"Well, maybe it's time to shift from weaknesses, and look more to strengths. You could be making some pretty big and impressive sculptures outta metal. Like those people who make stuff out of car parts and rebar and stuff. If one material doesn't work for you anymore, maybe another one will."

Victor was trying to put a positive spin on it, even if that wouldn't help too much.

He did cheer back up.

"Yeah. I prefer metal anyway. And hey, at least now I can bend some metal without tools," he said with a flex of an impressive bicep.

He looked down at Vic with interest.

"And Emilie.... is?"

"Short, red hair, more holes in her face than she was born with. You'll recognize her when you see her, she'll probably be giving me a hard time."

That sort of answered the question.

"True, but somehow I think Em's a particularly special case." Multiplied by a few dimensions of course. He really should try harder to spend time with her. He had told her he'd try the whole dating her thing that other Victors hadn't, but never really did too much more than hang out around the school. He kind of got lost in thought there for awhile.

"That's just how it works. The more powerful your abilities, the more screwed up your backstory. That's just superpowers 101. Speaking of which I gotta check to see if they changed the schedule along with the room assignments I'm used to that being in the morning on Tuesdays and Thursdays...."
