One day after classes, Sam would return to find a garment bag hanging on her door with a note in Tereza's handwriting.

Raising an eyebrow, Sam takes the garment bag into the room she shares with Miriam and unzips it.

Carefully packed into the garment bag is a dress in Sam's size. It looks pretty normal from the front, a little boring even for Tereza's typical style until Sam turns it around.

[Miriam Bell]

"I take it you've worked things out with your lap dog then?" Miriam asks as she watches Sam pull the dress out of the garment bag.

[Samantha McManus]

"...seems like. Little fancy, though. I wonder what she's got in mind?"

[Miriam Bell]

"The whole wild and crazy Morrigan scared her so now she's making you prove you can be elegant and civilized. Seems pretty obvious to me what she's got in mind."

[Samantha McManus]

"Well it's a little out of her element, isn't it?"

[Miriam Bell]

"That really only proves my point, doesn't it? I have to admit, it's pretty clever for her."

[Samantha McManus]

"I'd just hate for her to have a bad time because she thinks it's some kind of... test?"

[Miriam Bell]

"About... her own test? That she seems to have set up? What, are you worried she's not going to like the result?"

[Samantha McManus]

"I just mean that sounds like an awful lot of stress."

[Miriam Bell]

Miriam shrugs. "Or maybe she just thinks it'll look good on you."

[Samantha McManus]

"Either way I should probably rise to the occasion, aye?"

"...which means I need a bloody shave."

[Miriam Bell]

"And some eyebrow tweezing, maybe bit of a manicure. And then undo it all with a stray thought."

[Samantha McManus]

"...I'm aware of the difficulties."

"It's still easier if I do it for real rather than trying to hold a form all night."

[Miriam Bell]

"What you need is a mental make-over." Miriam chuckles half-jokingly.

[Samantha McManus]

"I don't know if I really want to be, you know, perma-posh."

[Miriam Bell]

"There's posh and then there's..." she gestures vaguely up and down in Sam's direction. "But you do you. Although I suppose that'd be the snarly leaves-in-her-hair version, so I don't know. You be who you think you need to be to make your girlfriend happy."

[Samantha McManus]

"...kind of an open question, some days."

"But if I unload on you I'm not going to have enough time to get ready."

[Miriam Bell]

"You've got three possibilities to chose from. If neither of them works for her then that's on her."

[Samantha McManus]

"It's not quite so... binary? Trinary?"

[Miriam Bell]

"Right, well, she doesn't like the rowdy one being pulled to the fore, try leaning into one of the other ones more."

[Samantha McManus]

"Yes, I got that bit. I'll... I'll figure it out."

[Miriam Bell]

"If you need a nudge, let me know. It doesn't have to be perma-posh."

[Samantha McManus]

"Look, I'll get it, Miriam." She curls her lip as she starts to gather up her things for a shower.

[Miriam Bell]

"Jeesh, alright!" Miriam says, raising her hands in surrender. "Faff about with a bloody razor then."

Grumbling, Sam heads off in a huff to get ready.
