[Drama] What The Cat Dragged In

Postby Nailah Weaver » Sat Jul 04, 2020 5:31 pm

When the message from Muir appears on her phone Nailah already knows what kind of news it is. She's felt the future... harden, possibilities shrinking down like she had just before she'd managed to evade the future in which Hazard managed to make her his--- She shudders even thinking about the tiny glimpse she'd seen herself hurtling towards. And now that feeling is back, chaotic possibility freezing into perfect stillness.
Hazard got out. She knows that's what the message will say, so when it informs her that the blonde monster died during a prison break she doesn't know what to think. It seems too easy but maybe this is how it was supposed to go. Free to cement her own destiny. Free to really use her power. No more fumbling to sort through all those fickle little moments. She can see it already taking shape, she would be near invincible. No. Will be.
And she already knows what her first step is going to be. She put it off long enough, but this time she's not going to be embarrassed and she'll be able to make up for it. Janice is going to be so glad.

So trivial to find the little bunny hiding in an abandoned farmhouse on the outskirts of Maldon. It's always a couple steps ahead in the split-seconds of the moment, marching to the beat of her own steps, but that's so inconsequential when you can see all of the sheet music. Through the window, startle her into action, dodge the chair being kicked her way across the floor but the other direction, so the old dresser getting toppled doesn't catch her mid-jump. March is already surprised by the skip in the song and without looking Nailah grabs the back of the chair that slid to a stop behind her, bringing it around to crash into March's hand lashing out with her rapier drawn. She vaguely notes the snap of a bone but doesn't waste any time dwelling on it, leg snapping out to catch March in the stomach and driving her back against the wall. From there she simply spins around, elbow cracking against the villain's head and she crumples to the floor. Easy.

She's already texted Janice to come to the window, but she flicks a pebble at her dorm window anyway, just for effect. She's standing underneath the window, March tied up and unceremoniously dumped on the ground with Nailah's clawed foot firmly planted on the girl. She can't help but grin proudly.

Janice opens her window, blinking in confusion at what she sees. She looks to Nailah, then to March, then back to Nailah.

"Uhm... whoah."

Nailah, somehow, had not thought ahead to what she was actually going to say. Actions speak louder than words, right?

"I got her!" she awkwardly states the obvious. "Figured you'd... you know... uhm... not have that hanging over your head. So I figured it out and took care of her for you!"

On the ground March lets out a groan and Nailah gives her a not too kind nudge to the ribs.

"It's... there were... too many possibilities. I needed there to be, cause someone was using the future against me. But he's gone now! I can see everything so much clearer. No more fumbling around in the moment. Just... pow!" she punches her own open palm.

"It's fine! I thought so too, but I had one arm tied behind my back before. I can see everything so clearly now! I'm ten steps ahead of her. Twenty, thirty, a hundred. For the first time I get it. Really get it! The future and the big picture and everything. It's... incredible!"

Was she? Maybe a little, but that's just giddiness. She always feels a little riled up after a fight and more so now because she helped out Janice. Impressed her. Yeah, that was definitely it. Still, maybe she should dial it back a bit if it worried Janice.

By the time Janice makes it down Nailah has... maybe not calmed herself down but she does look like she's holding her excitement back a little more. The fact that her eyes snap to the front doors a split-second before they open isn't really cause for concern, especially if no one can really notice. Ten steps ahead of everyone. It's a giddy feeling. Janice is going to understand if she explains it better.

"I'll be fiiine. A little headache's not the end of the world, right? Besides, not like I have to look ahead all the time forever. It's just exciting that I can!" she says, realizing she's getting a little too wired again already and clears her throat a little. "Only really needed it to go rabbit hunting anyway."

"Well, if it was I'll gladly fight costumed weirdos for you any day of the week." she says with a needlessly dramatic pose, fists on her hips. The fact that she also has one clawed foot on the tied up woman wearing a rabbit-mask as she does is not at all weird.

That's fuel to the flames of Nailah's bluster and she grins.

As promised Nailah walks into the common area of the XUB and looks around for Janice. She's still wearing her white and gold superhero outfit, but she's taken off the kind of goofy tiara and shrugged on her leather jacket. Earlier she looked proud but still a little uncertain but she seems emboldened by having successfully asked Janice out on a date. Kind of.

Janice is sitting at a table with an appetizer sampler in front of her, munching on a mozzarella stick. She waves to Nailah.
